Well so far, there may only only officially be salt creek gig. No one has scouted lake patoka. What i'm rryin 2 do is start interest in white river float. Barring that, have u ever heard of abigail king whi has done work to save the maumee river? She is havin a float in spring down it. & thats about the onlybdefinite float going on. She just happened to come on facebook indiana regional rainbow gathering group. I use my real name on facebook. I dont want disappointment if nuthins goin on. Id tried to time the indy gig with a float. But if no ones showing for the gig the float wouldnt be as fun. Id almost wanted & maybe this could still be done a very small gig somewhere on lake patoka. This since i havent a reply from abigail about a big one from ft wayne. By the way she has access to 12 canoes. Maybe it would be better to float n the spring on maumee rvr. Alot f this this too depended on me breaking up wirh girlfriend. I got back together with her & made promises i wouldnt go traipsin off to indy. Maybe i can talk her into comin in spring. She has a friend over in indiana too. & he has a giant raft i posted about him way earlier. I havent contacted him yet. & it would be nice to help save the maumee too. As i learned from abigail the maumees current is slow perhaps after save event go back upstream portage to eel river this would better to do now than spring. But no reply yet.

Way cooler would be haul all boats to lake erie then reverse course. Id actually been curious abt the maumee the llast few yrz & maybe id posted. But was amazed when she came on with spring float. That would be awesome shortcut on grt loop. Next yr id like to see indy gig same time but closer to ohio river. As well paddle creek ohio gig could be changed over to coincide w/ indy. Say aug3rd thru 12th. As indy aug 31-sept9th. Then perhaps a july 4th alternate either ky or wva close 2 the river. I hear paddle creek is close to ohio anyway. Its tough gettin it all together.

Opps i 4got id already poster abt abigail. So indy if ur goin to either lake patoka or eel river plz join tue facebook group. Maybe some of those folks could be motivated. Meanwhile im tryin to talk girlfriend into it. Either way theres still a lil time. A cleanup of an indy gg woulda lasted til abt sept 15th. As it woulda hypothetically ended the 9th. Smallr gathering shorter cleanup. As long as some boats reach "shore" of shawnee nf on wabash thats all that really matters. The rest as theybsay would be history. As it would motviate folks.

Plz google: abigail king save maumee. It's also the name of her facebook group. & since this indy more or less fizzled out, folks r a bit interested in a spring indy gig as well. Perhaps this could be close 2 time of the float. By spring, hopefully folks would discuss both long enuff 2 plan a bit better. Tho indiana regional rainbow gathering facebook group did make a valiant effort tryin 2 throw it 2gether. The main issue was water as salt creek had none. There was no way to haul water in. I'll post if there ever will be @least a campout. A small gig is better than no gig. I hope you enjoy ur show, indy. I'm kinda chillin in motel room. It's been awhile since i've watched cable tv. No free ice tho. I'm blowin all my ebt on it.

In search for our next dream boat we've traveled hundreds of miles for a look only to see another offshore boat that wasn't. Here's an expedition rowboat plans www.angusrowboats.com everone could do.

Liveaboards fit no molds and defs most generalizations. They are endlessly interesting...and interested. Forever learning, liveaboards are undaunted by mountainous waves or creeping dry rot, by seasickness or subzero tempertures or by social ostracism. Many migrate seasonally, searching for the perfect summers, while helping and encouraging others along the way.

Heres a sorta update on possibles. Heartland gathering in early aug. Somewhere in wva. No matter where this is held, others now may wish a float on ohio rvr. @moment i only know of 2 trubutaries frm wva 2 ohio rvr. Ne1 know of more? After heartland gig, paddle crk gigs r often done near rvr in ohio. These r flexible as far as i've heard. After this is attemptin 2 drumup a so indiana gig. Then something on saline island around time of shawnee. Mebbe b4 if that would step on toes. Then mebbe we can finally see those eddyville ky water caves. Dunno of any fam-friendly spots @ land betw th lakes. Ne1 know any? Black warrior rvr is home 2 alabama rainbo fam. This somewhat parallels tenn-tom. St george island on the panhandle. Shallow wtr craft could go frm yankeetown fl to rainbow spgs st pk on rainbow. Portage frm there to silver rvr/spgs st park. Guestimated 30 mi portage. Maybe a few more portages until st johns rvr. Then so to lake george. Then up icw.

New river is the bigger than little kanawha. I'm hoping my friend who is also focalizer can arrange heartland gathering 2 be near something wet. He is wishing to build a raft. We need something fast enuff 2 barge-dodge. Heartland cleanup will be sometime around mid aug. Shawnee seedcamp generally starts abt a month after that, give or take a week. We have an excellent lil place called saline island which is relatively near shawnee gatherings. A float gathering wouldn't hafta be precisely @ a gathering. It just happens 2 be if folks attending shawnee wanna join a float, fine if not we interact a bit hopefully w/ shuttle vehicles. If nothing else just bicycles back & forth. Itd be nice too if some folks could float down wabash rvr 2 join us.

I just heard a few days ago ohio passed boater freedom act. Not sure whether or not this would apply to going thru locks. I've never been thru one, but my understanding of how it works is that small craft go in first, in some cases ropes are lowered 2 help stabilize non-motorized craft. In some cases there are ladder rungs built into lock sides. Ive even heard of larger vessels allowing amall ones 2 lash against them. I guess fees can be shared that way or something. It's my understanding that all vessels in a lock kinda get jostled around. Essentially lockmasters don't want ne1 getting hurt.

It's a toss up as 2 whether we wait 2 go thru locks as it does take some time. Or do we have a rqinbo shuttle vehicle(s) followin us along th river? We would like 2 be self sufficient enuff 2 not need shuttles constantly. But if we can find individuals wishin 2 help..if ne1 is traveling from heartland to shawnee plz let us know.

Hey k! You definitly can go thru the locks safely. My bud jerry floated the Wabash to the Ohio and went thru the locks. They told him his passage was just as important as the big boats. He started out in a Marlboro raft he got from 'Miles' off packs of cigs. He got a aluminum canoe in Memphis. Some guys did a documentary on him. Its called, 'Nobody'. Very GOOD movie! He was even on Dr. Phil reuniting with his lost family. He fell in luv with the river. Lives on the Mississippi now.I have a copy of the movie if you want I can send it.
And, Yeah, thats me and boys on the New River. Class 4, maybe 5 rapids. Really fun!!
