Heineken isn't terrible compared to some of the American macros, but it's definitely nothing I would choose to drink. Not anymore, anyway. Plus, Heineken is extremely overpriced. At $6.99 a six-pack, there are much better craft-brewed lagers out there. Sam Adams Boston Lager (a mainstream macro-lager) is around the same price, and is ten times better.
i have to agree with most of what you said matt, but i do think heinekin is terrible. far too skunky for my tastes...but then everyone's got different taste.... waste of money, imo. i'd actually rather drink coors light than heine, its cheaper and while it tastes like nothing, that still means it can't taste bad... sam adams IS far better.... i think i recall you saying that becks is basically a german version of heinekin, but i've had a few heines and a few becks and i've got to say that though they're very similar, becks is far better in my opinion. its not half as skunky, and has a slightly more biting flavor....of course i dont drink too often and haven't really had a chance to really compare them side by side, but this is just the conclusion i've reached at this point in time...
i absolutly hate heineken... for some reason dan acted like a crack head and bought a case of heinken in little cans this weekend... altho that's better then outta the bottle, they were just terrible. i despise heinken. oh n matt, beer costs much more where i live then where you live.
I am wondering if maybe it's because all beer in Pennsylvania is retailed soley in liquor stores. In New York, beer is most commonly purchased at the grocery store. It seems like the liquor stores would charge more because they are smaller and need to charge higher prices to remain in operation.
could be (most likely) cause i've been to quite a few other states that sold beer in grocery or convience stores and the beer was cheaper there.
I thought the liquor stores were state owned in PA, same as here. The difference is that in this state they sell beer and wine in grocery stores, gas stations, etc. I thought a nice thing about Pennsylvania is that they sell a lot of New York wines like Bully Hill that never seem to reach Ohio. I would think that high sin taxes in Pennsyslvania account for the higher prices.
think they are state owned. i know that you can only buy wine and liquor in state owned stores that are closed on suns. and close by 9 each night. beer- you can only get cases at a distributor and you can get 6 packs at like sub shops n stuff that carry licenses.
wow, thats kinda nuts. man, i worked at a grocery for a while (last shift was last night) and an eight pack of pint cans of guinees draught were 11.98 or something like that, if i recall correctly...i gave some money to a friend's sister up on campus to get me guinness....no 8 packs were she went so she got two 4 packs of pint cans for me, cost me around 18 bucks oh well, i've also got a 6 pack of cheap beer to supplement the good stuff coming today, so it ought to be alright....
I bought Guinness last night from the speedway on Cleveland ave. and Schrock, you know Nesta, the one next to the brand new ghetto? Bought some Molson XXX from your grocery store a while back, i was thinking that you probably stocked it.
I once got stared at in a threatening way at a Pizza Hut in West Virginia. A few days later I drank some beer.
haha... its not my kroger anymore, my last night was friday...just couldn't take it anymore... i think i know what gas station you're talking about...i usually am only up in that area if i want to go to sharon woods or get knight's ice cream, though. how've you been? last night was unpleasant...2 shots of whiskey in some coke and then had like 3 pints of guinness...then my friends decided they wanted to go to fitzy's for burgers and stuff, so sober people drive the rest of us...alcohol, weed, burgers, and stuffy choking cigarette smoke aren't a good mix...got sick in the bathroom....
anyone who says Heinken blows needs to take a trip to amsterdam and have one there, best beer in the world, next to Guiness that is, -Puggy
