Definitely lost here myself lol. It doesn't appear very phone friendly. Hoping I can make some sense out of it on my iPad. Worst thing so far is my cute profile picture was deleted and I can't find it again. =[
when i set up a similar website in the past, it only took a couple days. granted, i wasn't importing data from an old website, so i'm sure that will stretch things out substantially. but a month seems like a long time. that said, i agree that it's too early to judge. i don't know what the hell i'm doing here either, but i've spent less than an hour total so far, and it's already starting to kind of make sense. i certainly won't say it's awful before i even give it a chance. it definitely seems to load faster, if nothing else. and it does look a lot less 1998ish.
It’s been my experience that few posters around here require visual stimuli to blow their minds away :scholar: Hotwater
The biggest change for me right now seems to be the "new post" function. Doesn't seem to be showing me the new posts but I know things take time. I usually used the old site with the "new posts" and "your posts" buttons mostly. So far I've just had to scroll through the various forums to find the topics I was looking for. I think it would be cool to have one forum where all posts/threads are in chronological order, regardless of the sub-forum or if the posts are new since your last visit.
^did you find the "view new content" button? it's kind of like the "new posts" button, just with several options of how you want to define "new posts." as far as "your posts," the closest i've found yet is when you click on your name in the upper right corner and that plain white box shows up, if you hover over it you get some options that appear in off-white so you may be able to slightly see them, and one of those options is "my content" which i think is about like the old "your posts." i hope there emerges a simpler way to find those options, but for the moment, they should be accessible through those routes.
Hmm.....I did just check that out and noticed the hard-to-see buttons. Thanks. I checked that out before and didn't even see them.
I still cannot access any of my pm's prior to the move, and that makes me very sad..... I noticed that thumbs up and down things are gone and the rep thing, and for that I am happy.....I hope they stay gone....as they are just distracting, and cause hurt feelings, I think....so why use them..... also, no one can thumbs down a person just because they do not like that person then.....I like it better without those those things....
I've looked everywhere in the albums, and can't find a way to delete anything, only an option to replace a pic with another pic. To see what we used to call the "your posts" list, click "View New Content", scroll down and turn on the option "Items I participated in" on the lower left. That's exactly the same as "your posts" and will remain the default for "View New Content" until you change it. I lost hundreds of PM's too, but I guess it's no big deal. I never go back and read old ones. The new rep system is much better than the old. The changes are going to prevent lots of arguments and hurt feelings. One odd thing I noticed; everybody that was on your contacts list is now on your friends list. The only change that is really bothering me is having every worthwhile post I ever made vanished into thin air. Most weren't worth a damn, but I put a lot of effort into just a few. I think this software is far superior to the old. It's just very different, and not yet fully customized, but we're spoiled because Skip does a lot of customizing.
Nah we need a thumb down button. I don't care if feelings are hurt. Some doofus' need a thumbs down at times plus if it's a really big rant and many have thumbed down it saves precious minutes of life.
