Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum, actually I've been lurking for a while. What made me decide to join as an active participant and register? Well here's a little bit about myself. I'm an almost 25 year old girl, about to move to the other side of the planet in just a few weeks, New York to be more specific. I don't know absolutely anybody there and maybe the thought of going to a city as big as that without having any friends there and the thought of not being able to find people with interests in common scares me a little bit. It's a starting all over sort of process and I can't deny I'm excited and happy but also starting to feel lonely as I venture into this new change in my life.
I'm a lover of simple things in life and simple people. I love making new friends and having a great time with the amazing people around me. One of my biggest passions in life is music. I love nature and the outdoors specially in the summer because who doesn't enjoy being by the river with the sun on the skin surrounded by natural beauty. That's also one of my other concerns, moving to a city as big and fast paced as NY and not being able to find a place to get in touch with myself and remember who I am. After surfing the net trying to see what would be the best option to get in touch with people with my same interests I came across this forum and this place seemed very friendly and warm so why not join in. I hope I can meet some really nice people in here to share my ideas and spare time with and why not make some friends down the road :)

I'm from the USA. Not NYC, but there are a lot of posters here from the city, so you might be able to talk to them :). That is a big move, what prompted it?

New York is lovely, but not exactly a nature-lovers paradise. Very cold there in the winter. There are some nice places upstate away from the city where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle.

I would love to do that :) It is a big move, what prompted it... well it's this nomadic lifestyle that I have. For some reason I feel like I can't be in only one place and that I need to go out there to the world and seek out for more, like there is something else out there that I need to see and live. It's a constant feeling that I have and it never leaves me. It's one of my ways to feel happy, to be constantly moving and seeing different places and people and different things. I know I've heard a lot about it, the famous concrete jungle. I didn't particularly chose NY, I think the city chose me. Originally I had another place in my mind but life didn't want me to go there apparently and the opportunity presented to myself to go there so I jumped right in, no hesitation and I think things happen for a reason so maybe that's where I'm supposed to be or perhaps not we'll see :) I love adventures so maybe after being there for a while I will know I have to go else where and experience another place.

You live in the city, moonglow

Yea, the rest of NY is lovely. The northern and western areas are really nice. Too cold for me, but worth the occasional visit! Life is slower there.

No, I live in upstate NY , about 80 miles from NYC. I have a very handsome actor/lawyer brother who lives in the city, though.:)...and I spent alot of my life in NYC. Love it there, too....! It never sleeps that city.

Hi Moonglow nice to meet you! I didn't specify which part of NY but then added fast paced city so I think Youfreeme immediately associated it with NYC, which is where I am going to be living. I have planned to visit the lovely places of the rest of the state whenever I have some free time and also a road trip within USA but I think that will be left for the summer. Your wildlife refugee sounds lovely to me! I hope you're making the most of it everyday. Which parts on NY are worth visiting that are easy to get to from NYC? Let's say on a weekend.

You're probably right, there's just so many places I'd like to visit and I start getting excited at the smallest possibility of traveling somewhere. Anyway if you're ever feeling like wanting to meet some new people feel free to message me, I love meeting new people and like I said don't know anybody there so I'd feel more than happy to know somebody there.

Hi Goldsurf, many thanks. Guitar brilliant! I sent you an email, still trying to figure out the pm system of the forum, I think I need a certain number of posts to be able to pm members.

Yes that's correct, but I don't recall how many posts before you're able to PM. In the meantime you can receive and /or leave visitor messages for members.
Or, if the member has listed an email address, you may contact them that way.
