Due to her mental and physical illness, I've been celibate for going on 5 years. Lately, I've been feeling more attraction to others, particularly a very kind spirit who charmed me the moment we met; at a meeting the other day, despite an abundance of empty chairs, she got up and came and sat next to me. Fortunately, my viciously verbally and emotionally abusive psychotic mate spent all afternoon yesterday vociferously reminding me why I NEVER want to be in another relationship with ANYONE, EVER AGAIN!
Do what you need to do and get what you need to get--short of harm to anyone. You must have the patience of a saint.
She's been on a waiting list for an interdisciplinary mental health team for two years. She had an intake interview scheduled in August; for the day after we came down with COVID. Three weeks ago, we had another appointment scheduled. Last week, they decided her referral had expired, so they referred her back to her counselor at the local mental health center. This week, the local mental health center secretly cancelled her appointment because they had double-booked the video conference room. So she has another appointment for an evaluation and referral next week. If that actually happens, the mental health team will schedule another intake interview at their convenience some time in the future. We've been waiting even longer to get her on disability. Someday, within the next year, she'll have a video hearing. So, for the time being, it's all on me.
Good luck with that. So many fucking hurdles just to get help...and that's just to get to the help, not pay for it... It comes down to, why is mental health treated like leprosy and not just any other medical condition? Disability...you know that is going to be a two year ordeal with at least two denials first, just as routine. We're here for you.
