neutral milk hotel

the lyrics are probably the only good thing about NMH.

mangum sucks live. the way he smacks his guitar is somewhat unpleasant, like watching a small child being beaten.

despite all this, king of carrot flowers pt 1 played on my myspace when i was 16, and i have been known to cover it from time to time.

 

i dont know bunny, but let's hope that it doesn't take you as long to forget about them.

To me it's terrible uninteresting music, and thus I didn't really paid attention to the lyrics at all.
So I don't understand the greatness/hype neither, but I stopped worrying about it since I found out alternative/indie rock/neopsychfolk/etc is very clearly just not for me.

At first I thought milk hotel being breast milk so it'd be like a brothel. Then I thought maybe she was talking about a colour scheme in a hotel, then because of like the first few posts I thought of an actual hotel named so in Montreal and then I finally got to the truth.

 

It's okay to find out about stuff a little late as long as it's worth finding out about! NMH is great, I love Jeff Mangum.

 

I found out about most of the good stuff from the nineties in this century
