Lol @ they're doing ok. You must have no idea how people are living in certain areas over there.

I believe it is a hopeless mess that is partly Israels own fault. I don't know the solution if the fighting factions themselves don't come up with it. It's there now. But with hindsight we can say that it shouldn't have been recreated the way it was after WW2.

That its not a big country is of course not any good reason to say that the neighbouring countries should shut up and accept everything. That's what I mean with it doesn't mean shit that its as big as it is now. It doesn't mean the criticism is invalid or false.

    Ha ha, that's so easy.

Hey man, if its so evident and obvious to you it should be easy to explain quick and in a few sentences, right? Don't leave it just because I'm such an unworthy convo partner, we're on a public board. Others wanna know too.

How is it so evident that without the recreation of Israel we (western nations in north west Europe) would be in the same kind of mess as they are now? Seems you like to make questionable declarations that you can't explain and therefor you won't even attempt.

The UN represents whatever the US allows them to represent and they all tend to frequently complain about the US not enforcing the laws they themselves refuse to enforce or are incapable of enforcing. Nobody is stopping any of those 134 countries from rushing to the aid of the Palestinians and helping them occupy the territory. Nobody is compelling them to remain in the UN knowing damned well the US is footing the bills and using it as a propaganda machine, while ensuring it has no real authority.

So, we should forget about the past such as the US stealing a third of its land from Mexico and put a stop to any land grabs currently going on. What bullshit, the money and gun have always done all the driving and the US has become the empire of the world by recognizing that simple fact of life as even the entire middle east does!

You want a world police force, look around you. No less than 134 countries declared that they recognize the Palestinian state, but not one of them is doing a damned thing because its every man for himself and my enemy's enemy is my best friend. In the US we now have rioting in the streets and people executing cops in broad daylight because they can't afford justice any other way then at the end of the barrel of a gun and they've been pushed to edge just like the Palestinians. The Palestinians have demonstrated all too well they are not willing to compromise on anything and exist only to destroy Israel. So long as they take that stance they will remain the ghetto to Israel where, if they are lucky, the masters they hate so much will actually pay them to pick their crops.

Any eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Gandhi

Then your claim that Israel has a legitimate historic right to Judea and Samaria is unproven.

You say that Regev didn't admit to anything even though he was clearly heard agreeing with the interviewer that there were no Hamas rockets for four months during the ceasefire. Your have your mind set on the idea that Israel can do no wrong, even when their own spokesman tells you otherwise.

    And from your link:

On Friday morning, Israeli troops were in the southern Gaza Strip preparing to destroy a Hamas tunnel, said Israeli military officials. Suddenly, Palestinian militants emerged from a shaft.

So, during a truce, Israeli troops were over enemy lines preparing to destroy a tunnel. That's not how a truce is conducted.

Sure, as long as you don't call Israel's U.S.-given military weaponry, and the U.S.'s solemn promise to destroy anyone who dares attack Israel as something that would stop anyone from rushing to the aid of the Palestinians. Just last year Obama approved a $1.9 billion arms sale to Israel, further illustrating the fact that the U.S. rewards Israel even when the U.S. itself has condemned the illegal settlement-building.

All 134 could occupy the territory if they wanted and dare the US and Israel to stop them, but they won't. They are about as united as a flock of vultures and the only reason the world hasn't had another world war since the last one is because the US dominates over everyone. So much so that, today, the EU couldn't fight its way out of a wet paper bag and has bent over and greased their ass for the US. Their politicians may complain and spout all kinds of rhetoric to appease the mindless masses, but their actions speak louder than any words ever could. All they care about, just like most Americans, is that the money keeps rolling in.

I've already explained why not one of them is doing a damned thing.

Your second statement in which you acknowledge that the Palestinian people have been pushed to the edge contradicts your third statement in which you declare that they will not compromise and that they exist only to destroy Israel. Israel is stealing their land in contravention of International law. Israel continues stealing their land even during peace talks. Who is it that will not compromise here?

Israel tried to allow them to move into the heights and they made it clear they only exist to destroy Israel. Again, laws have no meaning if nobody is willing or able to enforce them. They are rhetoric spouted by politicians as excuses to do whatever they want. Worldwide the bankers committed widespread fraud and collapsed the entire world economy, yet, when Iceland put a few of them in jail they were harshly criticized by both the EU and the US. When the billionaire mayor of NYC arrested 26 reporters in one day he only received a slap on the wrist and even the mass media refused to sue him knowing money is all that really matters in the judicial system and the US public would rather they lie to them. Israel has the clout to defy the law just like the bankers and US pays the bills for the UN just to keep up the illusion that we have rule of law.

"In 2007, Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip by force, executing PA officers and removing its officials, many of whom, such as Muhammad Dahlan, escaped the Gaza Strip with their families. Mahmoud Abbas promptly deposed the Hamas-dominated PA government, and two rival administrations were created, a Fatah-controlled one in the West Bank, with which Israel, the US and the EU resumed business, and a Hamas-controlled one in the Gaza Strip which was largely shunned by the world community. After Hamas intensified rocket and mortar fire on Israeli civilian centers from the Gaza Strip, the United States and Israel instituted a military and economic blockade of the Gaza Strip.[68][69] "

Israel has tried to sue for peace and even Sadat attempted to help them reconcile their differences and was assassinated for his efforts. Its a blood feud along the lines of the Hatfields and the McCoys just like so many other blood feuds throughout the middle east. Europe, the US, and Russia are largely responsible for the current mess if you ask me, but the fact that Muslims throughout the middle east are hellbent on committing genocide against each other as well as destroying Israel does not speak well for their "religion of peace" and explains why so many non-Muslims keep invading their countries and exploiting them. Even violating international law is meaningless when people like Saddam Hussein are allowed to routinely use weapons like mustard gas against their own people and enemies and all the UN does is complain. It makes international laws look like the farce they are. Pieces of paper to wave at people to justify whatever you want when its convenient.

Hamas was democratically elected by the people of Gaza. You'll forgive me if I question your objectivity from now on since your characterization of an election as a forceful incident. Anyway, I remember Condoleezza Rice smiling on the news and saying what a great moment in history it is that the people of Gaza are practicing democracy. But apparently they voted for the wrong people because her next words were that such a decision will not stand. And so the U.S. and Israel basically put Gaza under siege, which I believe is an act of war. I'm in a hurry right now and am heading out the door, but will double check my memory on this later.

But as far as the root cause of the conflict, I think it can be best explained by Ben-Gurion when he told Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress:

If I was an Arab leader, I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure, God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We come from Israel, it's true, but two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been antisemitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that?"
Source: Nahum Goldmann, The Jewish Paradox, trans. Steve Cox (Grosset and Dunlap, 1978), p. 99.

Ze'ev Jabotinsky, the founding father of the Israeli right, made essentially the same point when he wrote: "Colonization is self-explanatory and what it implies is fully understood by every sensible Jew and Arab. There can only be one purpose in colonization. For the country's Arabs that purpose is essentially unacceptable. This is a natural reaction and nothing will change it."

They didn't deny the theft. They just honestly believed that they could use the Bible as a land deed, and that that land deed trumped even justice and morality.
