Gee, Thanks, good to see you agree with me. And I agree with you, in yesterday's election, in many cases moderate Republicans were replaced by moderate Democrats. But it'll still change things. Peace, poor_old_dad
Explain that to me... A moderate was replaced by a moderate and yet things will change? Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein
Above is my original posting for this thread. Please show me where I am cheering for dems. Quit putting words and intentions upon me which don't exist. The fact is, it's the 15% of voters who are INDEPENDENTS (like me) who gave the dems this landslide victory. But of course they won't have any power in the new Congress (liberman doesn't count cause he's not really an independent). Conservatives seek to maintain the status quo. Congress is FULL of these types, call them whatever the fuck you want you wanna call them, they're still conservatives, morally, socially, economically & politically. There are some old school liberals still in Congress but their numbers are thinning. This is more evidence that you are very confused by the definitions you've been sold. Ah yes, you're one of those who think Marxism is dead and buried. It ain't, especially outside the USA. It exists as socialism in many, many countries, and is coming back after the recent failures of attempts at US style capitalism and fascism in some European countries (think Berlosconi & Asnar & soon Blair). Yah, Yah, it's called "THE SYSTEM" and we know all about it.
Is that sarcasm or are you acknowledging that it's the core of the system that needs to be addressed and not the demigods who happen to be running the show currently?
No, Skip, Marxism and socialism certainly are not dead. Socialism is the fuel firing the New World Order agenda. Not conservatism.
A lot. Among other things, a different Speaker of the House - who controls what legislation will and won't be considered; a change in all committee chairmanships - which is where laws are written or die, what will instead of won't be investigated (Bush, war, other stuff). Everything from Net Neutrality to extending tax cuts for the rich & therefore national deficet/national debt, federal minimum wage, clamp down on big oil, a re-look at the "Patriot Act", immagration, privacy/wire tap, torture of prisoners, a lot. And remember - ALL US government spending starts in the House of Representitives... control the money = a LOT of influence. That's just part, just what I can think of off the top of the poor_old_head. It's not all of what, as Skip calls us, "Us OLD TIME LIBERALS" would want, but it beats the alternative (more Republicans) Peace, poor_old_dad
Get real, buddy. The Dems love Bush. That's why they voted on the Patriot Act, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, Homeland Security, and pretty much everything else put forward by the Bush crowd. Nancy Pelosi has already sworn that she and her cronies will not seek impeachment for Bush. How gullible are you?
Not gullible at all, I've been active in elections just about every two years since 1960 and I know well how things work. Do you? What have you actually gotten out & done? Anything? Ever? And since you brought it up, what are the grounds for impeachment of Bush? Don't get me wrong, I hate that thing living in the Whitehouse as much as anyone. I'm just asking what grounds for impeachment you know of. Peace, poor_old_dad
Are you serious? How about lying to Congress, for one. And that's just one among many. If we lived in a just world, the man would be behind bars, along with the people working with him.
Uh, how quickly everyone forgets that the democratic leadership was the primary target of American chemical warfare in the form of Anthrax. Still waiting for that to be explained. Right after that the dems just capitulated to every Republican demand. There's been a REAL threat hanging over the dems since Bush came to power, or are you all blind? Is that finally gone? I don't think so. Not yet. Not as long as Bush is pres.
U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Unless he was under oath, lying to Congress isn't treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Peace, poor_old_dad
As far as what Nancy Pelosi says will happen, is just what SHE says. She ain't speaker yet. So I expect MANY to call for Bush's impeachment and I don't think anyone can stop it. It will make someone's political career. IMPEACH BUSH!
I think that the second best thing that could happen for this country and the entire planet would be for Bush to go back to Texas. I think the best would have been for him to not have left Texas (President Gore). I don't think President Cheney would be better. But I still wonder, what would be the charge for impeachment? And don't jump on me, I'm just asking. Peace, poor_old_dad
Yes. Still waiting .... Because if there are grounds, I want to get behind it and push for it. Peace, poor_old_dad
