Why does news all have to revolve around racism and false claims of it? Is this the problem? I never claimed canons death was racism, as a matter of fact I never thought it was. Did this guy have drug issues? Is addiction a problem that causes crimes by someone out of their mind? Does he have mental illness?

 

I was thinking this as well... maybe there is no remorse. Who knows? Maybe in his mind it was justified and still is. But we don’t know.. although I think this is way more likely mental illness or drugs, than racism the motive. I just can’t assume racism for everything. Something isn’t right with this guy. just like we don’t know when something is racism just because two different ethnicities are involved. But apparently some people think that children killed daily is not as important. It happens all the time.

and I can’t call racism a mental illness as some sources (left science) which as far as I can tell wants to promote.

So, I guess 6 Eyed is saying that the media is so taken aback with the momentum of BLM or Election or Donald Trump that when something like this comes along that threatens the supposed direction of the news cycle, its spin so to speak, that they don't offer it coverage perhaps in a vain attempt to save face.

That's an interesting concept because it speaks to the idea that media should be very objective and honest, not tilted one way or the other. And what else is weird is that traditionally we see violent crime overtly covered in media - this time though at an inopportune juncture.

I guess I feel like overall though I like their coverage and the spin that feeds equality - not the one that perpetuates inequality, like the violent crime coverage being front and center even though it represents a small proportion of reality.

EDIT: I just saw an avatar of a gun being pointed - I'm not sure what the spin is there. That probably says something about violence to my brain; which is both insulting and grotesque.

 

Probably because they see the news value as limited--it seemingly being about an isolated incident with no broader social or political implications; and because of the perceived potential that scumbags out to promote racial division will give it prominence because they expect that the unthinking jerk on the street willl see white kid, black perpetrator and jump to a conclusion the parents rejected. Why did you bring it up and make such a big deal of it?

The reason those right wing rags you got the photos from printed them was to enflame anti-black sentiment by making the emotional connection between the killer's race and the dear little boy in order to fan the flames of racial division. That's really despicable. The reason you posted the pictures and have kept the matter going so long is pretty much the same--with the added attraction of trying to use it to attack mainstream media--the ones who still exercise some professional restraint.
