    Hello.

    i'm looking for a notebook... on a $1200 maximum.

512 SDRAM (or whatever other clasification that would give me the same performance)
    and a
large screen (not less than 15")

    are musts in my book.

I've been looking over the major big brand sites.

There are some interesting options there, but I'm sure that you must know of some less famous, but cheaper solutions.

Technical support is no biggy in my book... since i'm rather comfortable handeling computer problems myself.

    Thank you :)

Regular PC problems and laptop problems are completely different though. I can honestly say that I am very experienced when it comes to computers, but servicing a laptop for someone was one of the most challenging things I've yet to experience. It really is different, you can't just pop off the side and change a piece of hardware, or etc.

If I were you I'd go with a Dell or Sony, although I've heard some negative things about the Sony series lately.
