<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>This shroom was picked today, in my backyard, in a lush grassy area, where there is only dog poo around and wood chips. It is april, autumn and mildly humid in this area. it has a bell shaped top and black gills which are not attatched to the stem. there was no bleeding or bruising when the stem was snapped. The stem was brittle and easily tore into strips or fragments. Stem is white, cap is a grey/black/white colour. Spore print was brown/grey/black. Any help with identifying this mushroom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :H
its not so easy identifiying mushrooms by just looking at a picture. not even for expirienced mycologists
it's not psychedelic, but i doubt it's poisonous either. i guess that means that it would not be in your best interest to consume these specimens.
Looks sort of like an inky cap but that's just a shot in the dark: http://www.econetwork.net/~wildmansteve/Mushrooms.Folder/Alcohol Inky.html Anyhow don't go around picking mushrooms w/o knowing anything about them. If you're really interested in mushroom identification I'd suggest you spend a lot of time researching. Shroomery.org is a good resource for mushroom cultivation and has a mushroom hunting section as well. Go find an experienced partner on the hunting section to go out picking with if you really want to find psychoactives.
