after shower now that i look at myself in these pictures, i can see some sort of progress. though it may be minor, i can see it now
I can see sections where the dreads may form. But honestly I don't see progress it just looks like wet hair at the moment. Don't worry though, the less you notice them the faster they'll become dreads.
a REALISTIC expectation to have 'dreadlocks' is probably between a year and two years. more for some, less for others. i even started with hair past my earlobes and i worked all day and they still took 8+ months before they even resembled baby locks and im at 20+ months and they still look like shit and SE i dont understand how you can say that some people's hair 'lock' in two weeks? or even overnight? are you kidding me? thats just ridiculous man. that shit aint locks, its just a few knots. ill bet all those people who had 'locks' after two weeks could comb em out. that shit aint locks that just knots(potential 'locks' MAYBE). oh waaaaa go cry about it and your hair doesn't look tangled in the slightest. i think you'd be better off going to a salon and getting em done by a professional:cheers2:
Your locks are beautiful NP! When I hear someone on here talking about REAL natural/neglect locks, yours are the very first that pop into my head! Me too Vigilante...I cant call my own set dreads...I frequently call them locks. I just dont feel that they are indeed dreads yet.
I very rarely use the term "dreads" because I am atheist and my hair is not symbolic of my life of fearing God. Locks (IMO) is the proper term but that's just me.
People with african textured hair can just twist it into sections and they literally have instant dreads
Correction: they have twists. African hair looks neater while it is matting because it naturally curls in towards the lock. Caucasian hair, on the other hand, is straight and sticks out giving those that are blessed to have it a fuzzy halo.
Those twists turn into dreads and they look like dreads right away. Twisting is just a different method to grow dreads which basically only works with african textured hair. It's no different then when people freshly backcomb there hair and say they have dreads. I could be like "correction: you have backcombed sections of hair"
no, not right away. let's not exagerate. i know a lot of people with african hair that have to retwist their new twists b/c their hair won't mat properly. i think the biggest difference is that african hair is more prone to mat/look matted because it curls inwards.
but, i can appreciate what you said, pat. it's ridiculous that people call their new backcombed sections "locks" "dread"s. lol.
