Theresa May signals U-turn on treatment of Windrush children but refuses to apologise

    Lammy's anger at Windrush failure

  2. Forced into an apology at the heads of commonwealth meeting but as one "windrush" person who has been held in a detention centre, lost his job and been threatened with deportation stated she (Mrs May) was dragged kicking and screaming!
The government has spent the last 2 days using every opportunity to distance itself from the debacle. The borders agency was an independant body that took the decision to destroy the landing cards of those who came, at the invitation of the then government by the way, to help rebuild britain after WW2!
I am deeply ashamed to be part of a country whose government can act in such a shameful and deceitful way!

  3. Because I was out of the country when that May **** was in the home office and implementing her "hostile environment" plans I had no idea of how far reaching and discriminatory some of the new regs were and are. After doing my homework on the issue I am now even more ashamed to be British!!!!
An ex-government person has likened it to the ways of Nazi Germany.
If your interested JT the Guardian has got some excellent reading in both reportage and opinion today

Don't you think the country has been made that way because of peoples experience with (some ) other races ?
I live near Liverpool and there is a large Chinese community not many people seem to have a problem with that !
do you think people just decide to dislike a certain race or culture just for the sake of it ?

Not an Argument just me thinking out loud on the matter
( the windrush thing is a different subject )

We are not responsible for our Ancestors.. we can only learn and put it right in our generation..

Im related to Liverpool's slave traders.. im not responsible, but I won't be racist because of it.. I learned from it. Do I have to feel guilty and say sorry for the people I never knew, for what they did?

Or can I put it right as what I can?

A government can have racist policies. People vote for governments.

Do you really think that people vote for racist policies within the voted for party?

    I personally don't believe that..

Racism is within the person for what ever the reason..

You could say that every person that voted for brexit is racist.. but I doubt that's true.. I think people vote for what they hope is a better way of life for themselves and people close to them.

If Theresa may is racist.. that's the person, and she is using her position to satisfy her personal racism, and perhaps others in her party, but to say her party is racist I don't believe Is true..

My mother like spike Milligan was born in India.. their British citizenship was questioned too.. but no one put it right for them.. whats happening with the windrush families happened within what some might say, the British people.. so why is it different now?

All the black and Asian people I have known said they have to put up with racism in this country on a daily basis.

As a mate of mine said the other day, no one cares if a nice blonde Aussie barmaid stays past her work visa. But if you're black you get booted out before you know it.

We certainly don't have a monopoly on racism. From what I hear, Australia is extremely racist. The States obviously have huge problems. The Japanese are very xenophobic. Russia the same. Even Sweden. In France the National Front are doing well in the polls. The list goes on.

Everyone knows what the Tories are like.

  17. Clearly people who are racist are going to vote for the party who supports racism and openly acts in a discriminatory way. What Mrs May was proposing whilst in the home office was clearly racist and barely within the bounds of law. The policy of " deport first then hear the appeal" is unforgivable. Many, many people coming to this country seeking asylum, having left regimes where their life is in danger, cannot and should not be returned to certain imprisonment and possible death whilst their case is being heard!

  18. Amber Rudd backtracking like fuck in Commons this morning! For someone who is supposed to be in charge of a government department she would have us believe that she basically knows nothing about what goes on on her watch. It is embarrassing to watch and listen to. She has promised to check things out and report back to the house and the select committee though. Maybe it will all miraculously go away whilst she dreams up her next load of bullshit!
