I've always felt that other people should know my name as soon as they look at me.. I feel like am the most stereotypical "Stephen" that there is.
When people meet me for the first time, then can't remember my name later on, most of the time they guess my name is Jeff. Even though my first name isn't even close to Jeff, I guess I look like a Jeff. My middle name, however, is Jefferson. Coincidence? I don't have any kids yet. Or a wife or girlfriend. But that don't mean I haven't been thinking about names for my offspring. I'd like to name my daughter Estelle, and my son I would name Dominic.
my goatee looked like that long enough to take the picture. It felt like someone had a tight-fisted grip on my chin hair like crazy.
Natalia/lya has always been my favourite name for a girl. Infact as a 7yr old, I decided I would marry one haha. ---------------------- Think I'd poss make a better father to boys, but not sure what I'd call a boy tho. (Plus naming a child after a spouse is a bit confusing : /) ------------------------ I think names have a massive effect on kids. Look at certain names, and u'll always see them in some fields, never in others.
I think people you know create those stereotypes of people in your mind, and therefore if a character of somebody (say, your child) is lovely, then people will soon associate that name with good (even if they've known someone in the past who is evil). Na mean? PS Death your sig is the freakiest thang.. :leaving: Edit: HAHA when did the leaving emoticon speed up so quick!!
I would pick David for the same reason :2thumbsup: I'm not religious and it's not really original but I love the name and the biblical person associated with it. It is strong and classic. Besides, I could use the line "I'm afraid I can't do that Dave" any time I have to deprive him of something. Names like Natalia, Tatjana etc. make me think of a dime a dozen longhaired blonde east european ladies. Ah well, that's associations..
Noah is a lovely name, but it's pretty trendy right now. I like Abraham, but for some reason I've never thought of it as a name that you would actively give a child. But, now that I think of it in that way, I like it a lot. Do you call him Abe? Does he seem like a Biblical Patriarch (old, wise soul)? I've always felt that my name is too long and elegant for me. I should behave like a graceful princess or something. I knew a kid named Messiah, once. I asked him if he felt like the second coming and he just stared at me. To be expected.
I'm always told I look like my name. My kids are Malachi Joseph, and Eisley Reina. We always liked the name Malachi, and Joseph is my great grandfather's name. Eisley is a Scottish name (my guy is Scottish), and Reina is a Spanish name.
Haha kids today We've called him baby abey since he was a fetus lol, we recently dropped the baby part and just call him abey but I imagine he'll prefer Abe as he gets older. He looks much more like an Abey than an Abraham at this point in his life, all chubby cheeks and goofy smiles. Do you go by a nickname?
I shorten my name, yes. Works better. Baby Abey, lol. Messiah had a sister with a crazy name, too. Can't remember it now, but maybe it will come to me. Piaf--I like Jackov. How do you like Anya?
Sofia is on the longer list and so is Anya but doubt we'll go w either or them. Do like them both though.
i'm curious what your name is now, YouFreeMe. and the shortened version if it's not obvious. i don't really think people "look" like any name. maybe in rare circumstances i would think that, but for the most part, i don't think anyone "looks" like a particular name. i have a hard time coming up with any names that i like for the child my wife is growing right now. of all the (mostly weird) names my wife has mentioned, the only ones i could imagine agreeing on are Harrison or Callie. i'm not too sure about that girl name especially though. my wife and i both have names that begin with J, but i don't think we will necessarily name our kid something starting with a J. she does like Jay for a middle name though. i might be a fan of waiting to name him/her until i meet them. how many days til you have to give them a name? and to ask a crazy question, do you really HAVE to name your child? do they force you to?
Klara is sort of nice too. I know one, she is breathtakingly beautiful, although a bit of a psycho too.
