I haven't seen a thread about this for quite some time.

I noticed that most people seem to "look" like their first name. Your name fits you and you fit your name. Your name really comes to define you, so if you are to name someone, the name must be chosen with care. Lately, I've been thinking about what I would name my children, if I were to have them.

    So, my question(s) are:

If you had kids, what would you name them? What names do you like? If you feel comfortable sharing, what are your kids first and/or middle names? Do you think your name fits you?

I never felt like my name fit me exactly, so when I was a teenager I shortened it and that fits really well. I like to name things, but when it comes to people I've never felt comfortable naming my kids (or animals) until I've gotten to know them for awhile first. I always chose my kids' names on the last day possible.

When I was younger I always had a really hard time calling people by their names if I felt like their names didn't fit them or if I just straight-up didn't like their name.

I don't feel like my name fits me super well at all. I also don't feel like it totally doesn't fit me. Kinda just...neutral about it, but if I had to pick my own name to FIT me it wouldn't be the one I have.

My son' name is Cason Eli.

I'm actually trying to think of girls names right now.
So far think we'll either go with Elliana Jade. Or Ella Jade. Or Olivia Jade. I also really like Kaya and there are some others....but I am still interested in hearing other girl names... don't have our minds totally made up.

AT--I love Olivia Jade or Ella Jade. I think Liv is a nice nick name, and so is Ellie.

    Thank you. :)

I'm kinda gunning for Elliana. Husband wants Ella. And son wants Olivia (also D's and my 2nd fav).

I figure with Elliana though she can still be called Ella (as well as Ellie, or Liana or Ana....maybe some others) for a nickname. But, shall see.

I think it's best to give kids a very common first name, since it effects how people relate to them. It would be easy to be excluded if you had an exotic name.

An unusual middle name might be good though, since it might make them feel more unique.

My opinion is that it would be good to let kids know that they can have a choice in their name.

Elliana is a pretty name, but around here, a lot of Jersey Shore-type people have that name. You know, girls who are obsessed with tanning, shopping, and drinking. I can't separate the name from the stereotype :(.

Hm, see, I've never heard or seen the name yet on an actual person. A lot of older names are ruined for me. Names get ruined for me very easily actually.... one bad person w a name and it's out. lol.
So I will def keep that in mind.

Back when I was originally thinking of naming a boy I at first liked those (God awful.. now...because so many idiots used them) names-like Aiden, and Jayden and stuff. But luckily I looked into how they were becoming way too trendy and stuff and went w Cason instead (which has some more popularity now then back in 2011 when we named him but it still isn't bad.)

In some ways I think I am going towards Ella actually.

I feel the same...I could never name my child Sarah, Kevin, or a million others, for that reason (names get ruined easily).
Aiden, I used to like that name, until I had a stillborn nephew by that name. Jayden is nice, too, but I knew another baby with that name and I feel as though it belongs to him.

I like Cason a lot! I like Mason, too. The long "A" sound is nice. I always liked the name Elena (Elle-ay-na), for example.

    Yea, I like Elena. :)

I'm the same way btw... if someone else I know names their baby a certain name I feel like I can't use it after that.

And those are exactly the names I mean-any name pretty much that was used when we were growing up and stuff, someone had to have ruined it by now. I like the names Bethany and Alexis, for example... but could never, ever use them- as my sister in law's name is Alexis and my friend's ex is Bethany.

So I tend to try to think of the newer or uncommon names... or older names. I thought of naming her Nalda (my grandma's middle name). But w the thinking of newer or more uncommon names... gotta strike a balance between still original but nothing too weird or trendy or anything that they could get made fun or for and/or hate you for naming them. lol.

You don't realise how many people you hate until you try to name a baby

I like names with Cs Ys and Js. My name has all of those so maybe I'm just partial to them.
If I was going to have children I'd name my daughter Freyja. My sister actually named her daughter this. =] but it was totally my influence >.>

I like Athena too and Cynthia, Cynzia, Zorya, Yasmin, Suzjana etc.

My son's name is Abraham. He was named after his uncle. I think its a very strong, classic yet not overly common name. I'm not a religious person but I love all the old testament names - Abraham, Noah, Abel, Isaac, etc.

If I ever have a girl I want to name her Imogen (pronounced eye ma jen). I love it so much. Its very unique yet classic and I think it sounds and looks very glamorous and sophisticated.

I like classic names from by gone eras. I dont really like modern or trendy names

I wonder if the name Abraham would inspire some hostility from some quarters in the South.
