I never saw these as being set up for sequels, can you explain why? As far as ET goes, I honestly can't remember most of it because I was so young when I saw it.
To my surprise, Gladiator 2 is actually coming out next year. Forest Gump just seemed like it could continue to capture significant events in time from where it left off, with the addition of watching how Forests son grows up.
I can see how Forest Gump could have continued like that, but how are they making a second Gladiator?! HE DIED!!! "Gladiator: Maximus Rises"
Sometimes I think they should just leave well enough alone. Gladiator was a great movie, I don't see the sequel surpassing it. Often sequels tend to be a let down.
Terminator Genisys, but bad sales at the box office killed this plan. The Predator, once again foiled by poor reception and ticket sales.
Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture (1987) has a post-credits scene that serves as a sequel hook for a sequel that never came, because The Cannon Group by then was in a bad way financially, and couldn't produce it. The movie flopping at the BO also didn't help.
Sometimes the first one works, but after that it is downhill all the way. The Bond film re a rare exception, but each one is from a different book.
The Cowboys. John Wayne's character, Wil Anderson, dies but Bruce Derns, Asa Watts, might not have. Asa is only drug off buy his horse and might have lived. The kids after leaving the grave marker could have returned to take over the ranch to support Wils wife. Nightlinger could have kept them organized running the ranch and Asa Watts could have rounded up another gang and come back to wreak havoc.
Big Trouble in Little China. Jack Burton rides again. My Cousin Vinny Vincent La Guardia Gambini goes to England The Big Lebowski The Dude moves on.
Yeah, I totally agree. I was disappointed with “Coming to America 2”. Corny!! First one should have been a standalone- no need for a continuation.
