where the fuck does it say girls on myspace? Maybe you should rethink your point.... Bare is a young girl, who posts half naked pictures of herself on the internet....sounts like she was talking about her....or does it not count if there is a real person to go along with it?

 

ok, we were just using myspace as an example, as it's one of the most popular sites for stuff like this to happen....if you look back at my other posts, I have also suggested another website, nexopia.

 

Exactly-as if someone becomes a 'woman' the instant they reach a certain birthday to achieve a particular age, an age which varies from state to state and country to country, sometimes greatly varying. The 'women's movement' states that it wants women to be proud of themselves and their bodies, and then when they actually do that they're 'degrading themselves'-a lot of this is just totally contradictory. And it is a condescending thing to say to teenage girls (calling them 'little girls'), who, at that age, in many countries and cultures, are already having children and raising families. That's just my two cents.

 

Also, I guess it's the 'women's movement' that determines what's 'degrading' for women, not the individual woman herself. So much for 'freedom'.

There is no "Men" or "Women", only individuals. To be degrading to "women" implies that there is a collective that the individual has shamed somehow.

it's been said many times through out the posts here that the naked body is a beautiful thing, and it most certainly is.....
maybe society has gotten to my head, cuz yeah, all your posts stating that "there's nothing wrong with it," do make a lot of sence to me, and yeah, they should be able to do whatever they want to.
But when it comes down to it, again, this is refering to young girls posing in very suggestive ways...it's not artistic at all, just saying, "come on, I want any ramdom guy to tell me that I'm sexy." There's a ridiculously high rate of 12 year olds having sex, and this behaviour is just a prerequisite to it....I was watching W-5, I believe it was, a while back and apparently 65% of teens believe there is a cure for aids....they are engaging in these sexual acts and poses and stuff, but know NOTHING about the concequences. And again, what about those perverts? I have watched now on W5 and on Dateline, the networks set these guys up by having employees talking and acting the same exact way as these girls that the OP is talking about are and you wouldn't believe the shit that shows up! Of course, they're arrested instantly after being asked what the hell they're doing there.
There's a lot of messed up shit going on out there, and to say something like, "there's nothing wrong with nudity, why was it different in the 60's?" It's NOT the 60's anymore. Times have changed for the worse. Yeah, there were crimes back then, but you can't ignore the shit that is on the news today about these young girls getting hurt by these nutcases on the web. Anyone is accesable to it, teenaged guys, young girls, fat old men, pedophiles.....how do you know who's looking at your page and premeditating how to hurt you?

 

yeah, that is true, but stipping down is just intising (sp?) it, in my opinion. Who would you be more likely to look at, the girl fully dressed smiling at the camera, or the one naked and writing dirty things abotu themselves?
yeah, there's the guys out there who are going to go after that smiling, friendly girl, but more girls are going to attract the pervs without clothes. I've seen it so many times....even on those news shows, they didn't just do this with one or two guys, these were 2 and 3 part episodes with well over 50 guys on each episode.
And, there is quite a difference in an older and a younger girl doing it....older women are *usually* able to think about what they're doing and the consequenses of their actions. A lot of these young girls are just giddy about the fact that there's a guy paying attention to them...an usually not just any guy, an older guy. It's the classic phophile story.

 

now we're back at the original dicussion that this thread was about in the first place. It's really upsetting that no one can get through to these kids that what they're doing is attracting them the wrong kind of attention.
My over analytical view is not going to change anything, kids are classically going to rebel if someone tells them that what they're doing is wrong. If anyone does want to see a difference, people have to go about it in a more understanding way than, "you shouldn't be doing that," and bascially anything that I have even said. It has to be said to them in a way that they can understand....but they also don't care....back to the fact that no one gives a shit about the person beside them.
