So I recently thought it would be a good idea to start doing some morning/early afternoon meditation everyday. I'm not particularly familiar with all the various styles and practices of meditation, so I simply decided to formulate my own. I usually open the blinds slightly to let some sun in into my room. Next, I simply lay or sit Indian style on my bed and take a few nice and slow deep breaths. Then I simply try to ponder about a certain idea, feeling, decision that I feel requires some reflection..or that has been on my mind or "nagging" at me for some time. Some days I simply think about the goals I want to accomplish for the day or the current week. I usually do all of this with some classical or relaxing piano music playing in the background at a low volume.. while occasionally looking at various artworks/pictures hanging on the walls in my room. Overall, I feel my style of meditation has been very beneficial. The weight of the future can be scary however... I feel there are so many things I still need to accomplish and do in my 20's..ahh Do you guys have meditation styles that you practice? :sunny:
Meditation is really a personal journey and if you are finding that this works for you then it is meeting the need you have. That is a really good thing. I tend to work on clearing thought as then my mind rests. That works well for me.
