I think there is no such thing as an investment bong that you plan on using. Bongs will break, its a matter of time. Cops will smash it. Your stoner friend will tip it, or you'll it out with the vaccum cord(me). Anyway, its a piece of glass that you play with when intoxicated; its gonna break.
You raise some valid points, but I really think there's a cutoff point where it's more cost effective to go with the cheaper solution, even if it happens to be different then the standard. For example, although gorilla glass diffusers have horizontal slits on the side and a hole in the bottom, almost no smoke ends up coming our of the bottom hole (I asked a friend to tell me where the majority of smoke was coming out). Furthermore, a gorilla glass diffuser is like $7-$9 and a RooR diffuser is like... what.. $50-$65? As far as ashcatchers go, gorillglass just got this nice little thing in for $40 You can pull the bowl out to clear it, and replace the downstem with another diffuser, plus it has a perc in the second chamber: A RooR ashcatcher is going to run you anywhere from $130-$400. There are exceptions, but for the most part thats pretty accurate. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a roor hater or anything. I think they make some great glass. Even I've been looking around for a good RooR tube to buy, but there really arent any that are under $200. People crave plain , simple, and sharp things which is why the RooR is like the iPod of bongs.
Bump. I bought a german diffuser for it, and a new bowl. And I found a RooR ashcatcher on Craigslist for $55. It comes with two extra bowls too.
This thread makes me laugh so much. I' looking at my posts from like 5-6 months ago when I was jobless. Now here I am dropping like $50 on weed a week and another healthy amount on glass every other week
I think the bay area is the place that sells bongs on craigslist, I got a purple haze lil sista that rips with a nice case
I just think Roors are boring looking. I'm sure they work awesome but that huge label on the chamber is just really unattractive. It has no personality. not my style.
nice pickups drew that little double bubbler a/c looks interesting... i dont understand how it works though the second chamber has the stem/perc so far up, in order for the water to cover the holes, and go through the water, its going to get sucked into the tube seems kind of pointless
