I understand what you're saying, and you're right, but none of the alterations in body chemistry are severe enough to even compare to the psychological dependance. All of the physical shit is very mild, but the symptoms listed by hebrew are the ones that have the most effect, even though they are completely psychological. I never said it was a "trick your mind is playing on you"; I simply said that your mind has to adjust itself to not being stoned anymore. As for the altered body/brain chemistry you're talking about; I'm GUESSING marijuana has a lot to do with melatonin production, which I may be wrong about, but it seems likely to me, and that will greatly affect your sleep cycle, as will the irritability/anxiety, and they seem to be the most dramatic effects of not smoking for a while, especially after long periods of binge-smoking, but these effects can occur after only a week of smoking once or twice a day, in my experience.

I may be talking out of my ass here, but it seems logical to me. I think we're both right on some points, and we're both wrong on some points, as neither of us know how it affects everyone, as individuals.

You talk about phsychologiocal addiction like it is Less of an addiction as opposed to physical....Its not though man, psychological can be just as brutal, and the symptoms you can get from being psychologicaly addicted are not easy to ignore...its not like once you know its "all in your head" you can fight the addiction easier.

....loss of appitite/ ability to sleep/ interact with freinds, etc... just makes the situation worse and adds on to the cravings. Weed being a psychologically addicting drug doesnt make it less of a drug nor does it make it less addictive... i understand that its not physically addicting, and as addictive as stimulants and harder drugs, but the side effects/ withdrawal syptoms one can get from exessive use are real though, and knowing its "only a psychological addiction" doesnt make it easier on the addicted person to deal with his problem.

also, some of you say "when one is addicted to weed and then quits than the withdrawal symptoms he goes through is due to his mind (psychological) trying to adjust to not being stoned anymore"

this just like telling a coke addict "when one is addicted to coke and then he quits that the withdrawal symptoms he goes through is just due to his BODY (physical) trying to adjust to not being stoned anymore"

its doesnt make it easier on either addicted people... mentally or physically. Some weed smokers think that if the addiction is psychological as opposed to physical than its all fun and games, and no harm is done, but its NOT like that...

I'm going to have to agree that many stoners underestimate the effects of the drug. I think it's important to know how enjoy your sober life as well, and that if you aren't doing that, it's probably time to stop toking for a bit (and/or get a more interesting sober life).

Don't even compare it to coke withdrawals. Coke withdrawals actually make you physically sick and can even harm the body. Physical withdrawal can actually kill you, depending on what you are withdrawing from. When "withdrawing" from marijuana, you don't get sick, you don't have seizures, you don't become nervous/anxious/volitile because the drug isn't in your system anymore. You may become nervous/anxious/volitile because you're wanting to smoke and you just don't feel right, mentally, but that's about it. If you are not a mentally weak person or you're not already depressed because of outside influences or because of a chemical imbalance(not caused by weed), then there will be no problems at all with stopping cold-turkey.

Marijuana addiction IS all in your head and it is very easy not to smoke anymore, if that's what you really want. If you still want to smoke though, then there's no reason not to and there's no reason you have to go through the psychological withdrawals; you may need to cut back and reduce the frequency at which you smoke, but there's no reason to quit completely, unless you really want to. And, like I said, if you really WANT to stop smoking, then there will be no problems at all.

And I agree that psychological withdrawals can be as difficult, but nowhere near as serious, as physical withdrawals, depending on the way your mind works. I never claimed otherwise, but it IS all in your head and you just have to learn to deal with it, which is easier for some than others.

Like I said before though....none of us are completely right and none of us are completely wrong, because every drug affects everone in different ways. I'm just speaking based on what I've seen and been through first-hand. If you say weed made you it's bitch, then I'll have to take your word for it.

Well, one thing is clear. Marijuana affects everyone differently.

I know I have absolutely no problem with quitting smoking. I just went on a trip for Spring Break for over a week, and sure I would've liked to get high and watch the sun set on the beach since I was in the Newport Beach/ Laguna Beach area, but I didn't have a problem not smoking. I barely even thought about it, and I had no physical withdrawals and minimal psychologically withdrawals or cravings. All of my friends are like this, I've never heard of physical withdrawals from just weed. But I also don't doubt anyone on here who says they have withdrawals from weed.

NONe of that i said in that last post was WRONG; reread it and think about what it said. I didnt compare coke and weed, i just said that ANY withdrawal from an addiction is basically an "adjustment" to not having w/e it is your addicted to; many weed smokers believe that a "psychological" addiction is nothing to worry about, and no harm is done; this is not true, and im living proof, and people should watch out from being psychologically addicted to weed. Plus, durring psychological withdrawal from marijuana its safe to say that YOU DO BECOME MODERATELY NERVOUS AND AXIOUS AND VOLITILE, MOREOVER DEPRESSION IS ALSO PRESENT, and its obvious, and it doesnt fade away easily...three weeks into quittin and all of those symtoms are STILL there, and at this point they are fading off....WEED ISNT EASY to quit once you smoke for daily for a long period of time, thats where you all are wrong. I would never believe someone who smoked daily for 6monthes or more 1-2 times a day and then quit COLD TURKEY if he said "It was easy for me to quit, i barrely felt a difference."

Many of my freinds that smoke daily that dont smoke when they are used to smoking and im talking about a 2-3 hours delay from when they are USUALLY used to smoking....they EASILY get sooo angry easily, and they are constantly grumpy and complaining, and annoyed by random shit...at night if they are used to smoking and they dont...they get tiered, they toss and turn, and the CANT fall asleep, well actualyl they can, if they take some SLEEPING PILLS lol...

my point is WEED Does have a BAD side.... Im not doubting that it has a good side as well, but it is a DRUG, and it is addicting, and it IS hard to quit once you smoke daily. Being depressed isnt fun, and i would put money down that anyone that smokes for a longgg period of time (6monthes+) and quits cold turkey is going to feel SHITTY and depressed and anxious and nervous....
Psychological addiction shouldnt be looked upon as less of an addiction than ANY other addiction including physical. Its still an addiction, it still effects the human in way which a person will not enjoy at all. One of the things i STRONGLY believe is BAD is smoking weed to escape problems...thats the worst, You cant run from your problems when you smoke weed, when your not high your gonna feel twice as shitty. Being sober and dealing with daily problems/ difficulties/ obstacles is wayyy easier and way more satisfying than when i was a stoner. i mean it is what it is.

If you'd go back and read through the thread, I never said that the use of marijuana can't be detrimental, but that is all dependant on the individual. You are living proof that YOU let marijuana get the best of you and that YOU used marijuana in a way that was damaging to YOU, as an individual, but you're saying that if ANY of us smoke marijuana on a daily basis, it will get the best of us, which isn't the case. You don't know what's best for us and you don't know how marijuana is affecting everyone else. A psychological addiction is irrelavent when you're gonna smoke anyway. If it isn't causing you any harm, then there is no reason to stop smoking. If you have all of your shit in order, there is no reason not to smoke everyday, if that's what you choose to do.

I've gone through periods in my life, WAAAAYYY longer than 6 months, where I smoked more than 1-2 times per day, then lost my job, for whatever reason, and couldn't afford to smoke ANY weed for a few months after, and I felt perfectly fine. I mean, I've smoked everyday for years at a time, then had to quit for a few months, including when I went to the army, and there were no withdrawal symptoms to speak of, at all. Like I have said before, I was clinically depressed BEFORE I ever smoked weed in my life, then I started smoking weed and the depression vanished. Sure, when I don't smoke for a while, I get a little depressed and anxious, but I had that before I started smoking, so it's just resurfacing when I'm not smoking. I don't get depressed because I'm not smoking; I get depressed because my life is shitty, at any given time. To put it simply, my depression isn't CAUSED by weed or a lack of weed; rather, weed helps me deal with the depression that's already there. All that said, I do find it hard to sleep and I do get anxious when I run out of weed, but that's just because I get used to being stoned all the time, and I don't feel right without it. Some of that may sound contradictive, but it's hard to put into words. The "adjustments" you are talking about when withdrawing from other drugs are far more severe and intense. When you're physically addicted to a drug, your body has gotten so used to having that particular drug in it's system, to the point that your body just doesn't work right without it anymore and you get physically sick and experience a depression far worse than the depression you experienced when you stopped smoking weed. I know you said you're not comparing weed to other drugs, but that is where withdrawals come from.

Your friends get angry when their smoking schedule gets interrupted for a couple of hours because they are FRUSTRATED. That's not withdrawal; that's just them being bitchy. And of course they can't fall asleep, because they're used to having weed as a sleep aide. Again....not withdrawal.

Bitches smoke weed to escape their problems. I, along with most others, smoke weed to help me deal with my problems without getting stressed out. We're not escaping our problems; we're just taking the edge off so we can deal with our problems without going crazy. Weed doesn't have a bad side, but you can use weed in a bad way, meaning YOU have a bad side and you have a problem. I can deal with my problems sober or stoned, but I'm not gonna be nearly as stressed if I deal with them stoned. You say that ANYONE who smokes weed everyday for long periods of time don't enjoy anything when they finally have to be sober, but that's bullshit. I've smoked way more weed than you and for much longer periods of time, and I still enjoy myself when I'm not stoned.

Again, IT IS ALL BASED ON THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE WAY THEIR INDIVIDUAL MIND WORKS, so stop talking as if you know what's best for everyone else and take care of YOUR business and do what's best for YOU. Don't worry if I smoke like a chimney, because you don't know me and you don't know shit about how MY mind works.

imagine this. an individual that smokes weed for a year and then quits vs the same individual that doesnt smoke weed at all, compare the two....are they going to be the same after the one smoker quits? lol NO. is one going to be as fully functional as well as the sober person? no....is he going to sleep, eat, feel comfortable, function in society, etc as well as a sober person? NO. Everyone that smokes a lot of weed CHANGES, every single person i know did. So if your one that doesnt change from smoking weed in large quantities and you HAVE NO WITHDRAWAL symptoms what so ever, than ur one in a million. Also, You were depressed b4 u started smoking so i suppose your a bad example, like u said everyon reacts differently...but take a person who doesnt have any issues like depression or something and im willing to put money that what i said applies to AlMoSt EVERYONE. you know it does, idk why ur denying it, its not like im making shit up. A smoker of weed, aka a user of a drug, that uses it frequently and then quits cold turkey is definitly going to have some withdrawal symptoms. Obviously, some people have a harder time quitting than others, im not arguing that every individual that smokes reacts the same way, b/c that not the way things work, ur right! If you believe that a smoker can smoke weed for 6monthes+ and then quit cold turkey and feel COMPLETELY normal, NO SIDE EFFECTS, NO WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS WHAT SO EVER, than ur living in denial.

If any self-respecting pothead isn't offended by this, they should be.

Some of our society's most importan people smoke weed everyday, and still manage to contribute more than you do. All I'm saying is that everyone is different; some people can handle it and still contirbute to society, sometimes more than people who don't smoke, and some people can't handle it and lose theirselves in all the haze. Just because you couldn't handle it, doesn't mean millions of other people can't.

You're right; I AM one in a million, and so are you. WEED AFFECTS EVERYONE DIFFERENTLY and the shit you went through with marijuana DOESN'T APPLY TO EVERYONE. I'm no more special than you are......I can just handle my shit a little better, and so can most others.

Reread my last post, i edited it right after i posted it but u already replied man, i changed some things up.

im not sayin that potheads cant think, or cant contribute or come up with things as well as sober ppl if not BETTER. when i was a stoner, sometimes i thought a lot wiser than most sober ppl....

my point is that everyone that smokes pot is effected by it, no one can smoke pot and remain uneffected. if your doing something different than ur usually doing repetitively than your going to be effected by it. Weed burns ppl out.... no-one can smoke weed for years and not get burnt out, maybe in some other existance, but in the real world this is not possible. You cant say that if someone that smokes several times a day for a year and then quits, and somone who never smokes weed at all, are going to be as functional, as comfortable with themselfs, as able to fall asleep, etc, as someone who never touched weed.

WEED CHANGES PPL, There is a chemical reaction to smoking weed in your brain, THC is stored in fatty cells or what ever they are called, and when you smoke weed a lot than your body/ brain is altered from the sober way your body works, and then when u quit, there IS DEFINITLY going to be a "somthing is missing" effect aka withdrawal.

All you're doing is saying the same shit over and over again and not paying a damn bit of attention to anything I'm saying.

Weed affects EVERYONE DIFFERENTLY, which is what you don't seem to be getting. I'm not burnt out. I had been smoking pretty much everyday for about 4 years straight when I got my GED, and I was stoned when I took my GED exams, and I scored in the top 5% of all Georgia graduates. That's not just the top 5% of people in Georgia who got there GED, but the top 5% of EVERYONE in Georgia who graduated from high school AND the people who got their GED. People still tell me that I'm one of the most intelligent people they know, after more than 9 years of pretty heavy smoking. It hasn't made me stupid, it hasn't made me slow, it hasn't made me retarded. Weed doesn't even burn brain cells up. If anything kills the brain cells, it's holding your breath when you take a toke. Holding your breath for long periods of time will burn you out way quicker than THC, because less oxygen is getting to your brain, and THAT kills brains cells. Did you know brain cells are regenerative, as well?

"Weed changes people"? Of course it does, but it's up to you to decide whether it's going to change you for the better or for the worse, or if it will even change you at all.

I'm not saying weed didn't fuck your head up a little bit; I'm simply saying that your situation is your own, and it won't happen the same way for everyone else. Sure, it may be detrimental to some others, but not everyone.....hell, not even close to everyone. Based on what I've seen, I'd even go so far as to say it helps more people than it hurts.

ARE YOU TALKING GENERALLY? what happened to everyone reacts differently to different drugs??? Marijuana is NOT VERY EASY TO QUIT even if thats what you really want! I really wanted to quit, and it wasnt really easy to quit. as a matter a fact it was difficult to quit. Many of my freinds still smoke daily, and they are always worried about themselfs saying they rreally want to quit and they dont like smoking anymore, but they keep smoking. THEY OBVIOUSLY dont like doing it anymore yet they just cant quit, its too tough for them to do, they easily get fustrated and grumpy. but once they smoke it takes care of their withdrawal symptoms....Hence ADDICTION.

Once someone smokes for a long time and has a good time withit, than thats all you (your addicted mind) really wants, to keep getting high...sooner or later a stoner forgets what the sober life is like, and they CANNOT find a reason to quit b/c they are too addicted! and the High life is just "too good...." anything that once mattered, does not matter anymore. or matters less than it used to, and marijuana brings joy, comfort, etc to the individual....THE PROBLEM COMES IN when someone tries to quit after the body is used to constantly being "happy, comfortable, etc" (high).

at times where you are usually high and your not high, thats when the challenging part comes in....you really want to quit b/c you know that once u smoke another blunt and get high again, than b4 u know it you are going to feel like shit sober...AGAIN. so whether u "really want to quit" is not always the CASE. sometimes ppl WANT TO QUIT they reallly do, but its too much of an intense experiance for them to do...its too painfully, and uncomfortable mentally....

Well, I guess I'm in denial then, and what I've seen and heard from people I know, personally, is all a lie. I've seen people stop cold turkey after having smoked most of their lives, and act completely normal and say that they felt better than ever within a week of quitting. YOU are in denial if you everyone has trouble stopping, or at least doesn't feel right when they quit, because plenty of people do it.

YOU didn't feel right when you quit,a nd I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't feel right when they quit, but there are also plenty of people who feel perfectly fine when they quit.

arguing with you is pointless, you dont listen to what i have to say.
and YOU repeat yourself. WHAT IM SAYING IS WEED FUCKS UP PPLS BRAINS, and THERES BAD EFFECTS FROM ABUSING IT. you wont be able to convince me otherwise.

smoke like a chimney for 9 years and never get burnt out lol.....hmmmm, interesting. I dont buy it. You getting your GED doesnt impress me. "With a Will theres a WAY" you set your mind to it so you did good. My situation is my own and i find it interesting that when i talk to daily smokers that STILL SMOKE, and bring up whatever i menchined in this thread than they agree with me. im not making anything up. ITs not a SUPRISE that weed burns ppl out. They change is almost ALWAYS for the worst. unless your mind is fucked up from depression b4 u start smoking, thats a different situation. but for most of the regular mentally healthy smokers, the change is for the worse. Your trying to prove that "AGAINST ALL ODDS" is always the case....your trying to prove that ppl dont go through withdrawal, and if they do its ONLY psychological which IS Basically not bad at all.....and its only in your "head" which makes it OKAY. lol its obserd.

just cuz it fucked my head up a little? it fucked my head up when i was a stoner, im a glad to say that im not as fucked up from all the withdrawal symptoms as i was 4 monthes ago. I think it is safe to say that it fucks up MANY BRAINS, it BURNS THE MAJORITY OF PPL who use it out, if not ALL (some get burnt out faster than others).....and you holding ur breath for 20-40 seconds total while smoking a blunt doesnt burn YOUR BRAIN OUT, its not b/c ppl hold their breath than they get burnt out hahaha damn....
im gonna stop arguing with u man, idk where u come up with some of your shit. You knwo what i mean when i say BURN OUT, i dont literally mean BURNT OUT.....you dont need to explain that IT KILLS brain cells i kno. and you just prove me right by sayin it kills brain cells.......and then u backed it up by saying ppl get burnt out b/c they hold their breathe hahaha.... (like it has notihng to do with the marijuana)

i mean i feel where ur coming from, u love weed, ur a stoner, i dont expect you to agree with me, this argument is poitless, b/c ur gonna keep defending weed, like ITS ALL GOOD. and some of the smartest ppl smoke weed...They were smart b4 they smoked weed, smoking weed didnt make them smart...they would b way smarter if they havent smoked weed.

You're wrong. If someone REALLY wants to stop using marijuana....they will. They continue to smoke because there is obviously SOMETHING about the high that they enjoy. They may feel that they NEED to quit, but they don't really want to, or they would have no problem quitting.

I've never felt like shit sober, and I don't know anyone who has, unless they are have a debilitating addiction to a physically addictive drug. I just feel BETTER when I'm stoned. You can't sit there and say that if someone really wants to quit, they can't, unless they are really weak-minded. Like I said, some people may feel like they NEED to quit, for whatever reason, but they don't really WANT to quit, or it would be as easy as that.

I never said it kills brain cells you illiterate fuck. I said that holding your breath is more likely to kill brain cells than THC. I'm not burnt out, so stop saying I am.......and you ARE saying I am, indirectly. You just need to get it through your skull, if there's even anything for it to get through TO, that everyone is different and what happened to you doesn't happen to everyone, or even close to everyone. I never said weed makes anyone smarter, but it can level people out and allow them to use there mind in a better way than they did before they started smoking, because it opens up new thought patterns. I never said weed is "all good" for everyone. Some people shouldn't smoke weed, that's a given, but there is no reason others shouldn't smoke all day everyday, if that's what they choose to do, so long as they're keeping their shit straight, which IS possible while being stoned at every waking moment. I do, however, still enjoy sober life, though not nearly as much as stoned life, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Weed hasn't fukt my brain up.....all of the other shit I have done has though, to an extent, and I AM a little more twisted than I once was. Not even close to being burnt out, but yes.....slightly twisted. lol

you never said it makes ppl smarter u just said it makes ppl use their mind in a better way...lol hmm interesting. When someone uses their mind in a better way, than they are smarter? are they not?

you were saying that weed IS all good, indirectly. You basically said smoking for years and then quitting isnt hard at all, you said the high life is wayy better than the sober life, you said it was very easy to quit, and the withdrawal symptoms, if they're any at all are minimal. You said it can make ppl think better. You basically tried prove me wrong, everytime i said weed was bad for one reason or another, when really i never MADE anything up...and i UNDERSTAND that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, but marijuana gets ppl high the SAME way (same chemical reactions)....you saying you just feel BETTER when ur stoned, Proves my point, its stoners mentality lol..."nothing is as good" if u dont smoke weed, that how u think.......dont tell me im wrong, b/c thats what u basically where sayin in most of your posts. when u smoke life seems better, when u dont smoke life seems more boring than it did b4 u smoked. when you get high repetitively for a long ass time and then quit, these effects are maximized, and thats when the withdrawal symptoms come into play. To MANY and MANY and MANY of daily smokers...Weed doesnt make everything better, it just makes everything "Normal" to them, since thats the new reality that the smoker has created when they smoke every single day. At first it DID just make everything "better" in a sence that they just enjoyed themselfs a lot more than they normally would, and they were simply HIGH. However, once the body is USED to constantly getting high, than everything is boring and not good in the sober life, to a stoner; and then when that addicted daily smoker Smokes in that type of setting where everything becomes boring due to not getting high, they just FEEL normal again when they smoke again, they dont feel GOOD, but they feel better...( they dont feel as good as they would if they werent addicted.) and thats what keeps the stoners going once they are very addicted, sober life is not fun, is not exciting, it is just Tolerable, and then the high life just keeps them feeling normal, it keeps the stoners in the state of mind in which they are used to being in.

Again im not MAKING THIS UP, its just common sense.
I know that everyone reacts differently to different shit, but what i mentioned above is true for all pot smokers for the most part. of course theres always a wonder child that reacts completely different than most ppl. Statisticly this can apply to the majority of pot smokers. its just common sense...u do something u really enjoy (its a drug, which means there is a chemical reaction), ur body/ mind gets used to the high, u enjoy it so much that normal life seems less appealing, and b4 u know it ur addicted, and normal life is just DULL and uninteresting, so potheads just keep smoking to keep life upto their new expectations, HENCE THE WORD ADDICTION. b/c b4 potheads started smoking pot, NORMAL life was satisfyingly interesting, and exciting and fun, but now that sober life isnt that way without weed, than u keep smoking weed...

trying to disprove this is just trying to go AGAINST ALL ODDS again lol...

No. They are just more intuned with the intelligence that is already there.

No I didn't. I said you can use it in a way that isn't at all damaging to your psyche. Well, some people can. You obviously couldn't, which is fine, but it's true.

It's not hard. I've quit numerous time. I quit when I went to the Army. I quit when I've had to pass a drug test for jobs. Then I made a conscious decision to start back, because it's what I wanted to do, but I would've been fine not smoking any more, if that's what I really wanted, and there would've been no problems, whatsoever. Again, it's different for some people, because they feel like they need to quit, but they either consciously or subconsciously don't WANT to quit.

High life is better than sober life, FOR ME. I've never had any withdrawals from marijuana. Maybe some anxiety and depression, but that is just how my mind has always worked. I never tried to prove you wrong, completely, because you are right on some points, and if you would just stop speaking in absolutes, as if what you went through is definitely gonna happen to ANYONE who smokes for long periods of time and then quits, because that's not the case. I never said you made anything up either; I said there are no gaurantees and that nothing is the same for anyone; including the presence of "withdrawals", such as anxiety, depression, restlessness, etc. because that's not the case for everyone.

Marijuana doesn't get everyone high in the same way. Some people get zoned and just blank out. Some people get motivated and get shit done. Some people eat non-stop. Some people just laugh the whole time. etc. It literally does affect everyone differently. Not even the same chemical reaction, because people have different amounts of chemicals in their brains and everyone's brain works differently, which is the main point I've been trying to make this whole time.

Yes.... feel better when I'm stoned. It doesn't prove your point. I still enjoy life when I'm not stoned.

Ummm yeah. That's the main reason to smoke, so you will be high. That's what being "high" means.....you're happier and buzzing and you feel good. What's your point?

The reality that the smoker has created? Smoking marijuana doesn't even change reality or take you out of reality. It just accentuates the reality that's already there and gives you a different perspective. It can make a person FEEL more normal, mentally, but it doesn't change the way you feel about certain things, it just makes those feelings more intense and helps you to appreciate the good things in life a little more.

"Once your body gets used to constantly getting high"? My BODY doesn't get high.....my mind does. "Don't feel as good as they would if they weren't addicted"? I still enjoy smoking just as much as the day I started. My heart and mind keep me going......not weed. Sober life IS fun and exciting, and more than tolerable. Right, I don't feel normal when I'm not stoned, but I don't feel BAD when I'm not stoned. I just feel.......not stoned.

You can't prove me wrong either, because we're both right and we're both wrong. What you are saying is true for some people and what I'm saying is true for most people. Leave it at that.
