That tam is beautiful! I tried making my own tam...and I did it, but I crocheted too much, and I made it huge...hahaha. It seriously is the biggest hat you've ever seen...it looks hilarious on me. My bf calls it Jaba...lol.

You did a really great job on that, Pink...:) I, too, would greatly appreciate a pattern.

thank you so much for all the nice replies, it really made my day. you guys are great!!!

ok i will try my best at describing what i did, so bear with me here.. (i dont know the crochet pattern lingo or anything) haha.. i barely understand what the patterns say.. so ill just try to explain what i did :D :&

    materials:
big Q - sized crochet hook (lions brand makes big blue ones)
the green & yellow yarn is wool and the name is "licorice" ..its made by jo-ann's
the hemp strip is just regular medium sized hemp twine
the brim/edge thing is done in Jiffy wool ..some whiteish color

first i made a big base.. i counted in increasing single crochet sets of 6

increasing ex.) [1 stitch] 6 times, then 2 stiches in each one of those, then [1 stich, 2 stiches in 2nd loop] 6 times, then [1 stitch,1 stitch ,2 stiches in 3rd loop] six times, etc.

sorry if that was really confusing to anyone :(
i did that pattern until about the 10th time
then stopped increasing and started decreasing
i basically just stitched 10 single stiches, then skipped 1, then 10 more, then skip 1, etc
then 9 stiches, skip 1, etc
    then 8.. skip 1..

once it decreased to fit around my head snugly, (i stopped counting) i crocheted until it got long enough to fit over all my dreads

ugh im sorry, i feel like that was a horrible explanation.. im alot better at showing/explaining in person, i swear! i hoped this helped at all :&
