Today I made my first "meme" to post on the forum boards and social networks. It was a little creative moment prompted by the anti-homosexual rant by Phil Robertson supposedly coming from a Christian Bible.

This condemnation is nothing new. Fred Phelps and other nut case Christian "fundamentalists" have been spewing his hate from the same verse for years. It is found in the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus. It is the mainstay of religious anti-homosexual hate and is often spewed by the self-righteous. (Jews also share that ancient cultural law). As for the Christians, I don't think Jesus ever said anything about homosexuality, much less condemn it. He too was critical of much of Jewish law and custom of his time.

If you believe this crap, I hope this meme calling out "ignorant hypocrites" does not offend you. I can debate it, but first go read all of Leviticus, because I think my take on it is accurate.

Why pick one part of a scripture and ignore the rest of that same set of laws? If you are aware of all the other provisions but pick only the one you want to emphasize that to me is hypocrisy.

I strongly doubt that anyone with their wits about them believes in the stuff these guys are preaching, least of all the likes of Phil Robertson and Fred Phelps. Like so many other people, they, too, have found their market, and are selling the stuff that markets want to buy.

Guys telling you to drink the popular sugar-rich drinks neither believe in them nor do they drink the sugary water themselves. They only live well of the stupidity of the masses who do.

Good job, Shale. :) Remember when Anita Bryant got the pie in the face for being so shamelessly homophobic? People seem so much more passive now. And using the Christian Bible as a weapon to wound is cowardly at best.

Jesus spoke of love, not hate. But he is not the author of the Christian Bible - which is a very great pity. Anyway, I saved your awesome meme. Right on. :2thumbsup:

P.S. Yikes! Forgot to wish you a Happy 2014! My bad: Your awesome movie blurbs are the only reason I put new DVDs on hold at my local library: I've come to depend on your reviews as I once depended on Roger Ebert's.

Now that ain't too shabby... :)

The bible just lends itself to the old pick-and-choose and you can interpret it in a multitude of ways.

That's why hypocrites love themselves a bible. You can find something to support anything in it if you just look hard enough.
