Definitely will. They used to really crack down on weed there. Is it still like that? Last time I was there I was not willing to risk doing anything wrong. Well to be honest Colombia's craziness has great appeal to me. I seem to be attracted to an element of crazy in my life. Plus is is one of the most beautiful countries I have seen. The people are very friendly. And the jungle there is incredible. I am going to Honduras in October. Kind of a fact finding and business trip. Nicaragua is actually a good possibility and so is Panama. I am already involved in medicinal cultivation. It is one of my pet projects. Expatriate are an interesting group of fellows. In Belize I hang out with expatriates becase they are far more interesting than the local people. I wish I could get rid of my own restlessness. I mean hell, I have been on vacation and about the second week I started feeling nuts. I can't wait to get to Belize in a few days.
Costa Rica seems to have gone "sensible" without getting boring. I think America will want to work more and more with these places- if it isn't too hated still... Med cultivation sounds really good.Have u ever thought of jungle leisure businesses too? I'm not a big fan of doing nothing holidays.Work trips mean I can meet the locals and find out what the place is all about. Even long weekends, I'm abit thinking of work sometimes. But I try and change that. Someone asked me where I'd most want to live. But I thought perpetual traveller-3 mths per place, or 6 max sounded perhaps the best. PS SHinawatra's basically fucked isn't he?
Costa Rica has no many expatriates. Yes I know I am an expatriate. I need that "Wild West" atmosphere to thrive. Costa Rica is to tame. Wonderful people though. Beautiful jungles. But for the plants I am thinking of I need a area with no "quite" so much rain. But I am kind of a lone wolf expat.,if that makes sense. Most of my expat. friends are adrenaline and extreme lifestyle. Basically I hang with other rich nuts. As far as a business involving the public, that is out of the question. My security team would never allow it and I understand why. The Guatemala incident changed me on a profound level. I have to do long holidays. I got to visit my mom and shop and buy things I need. Also to visit other family members. The long vacations are necessary for Visa bullshit and other factors too. But I do still work when I take vacations. I have several friends over there that are convinced SHinawatra' is going to come back to power.
Yes, they do. But it tends to be a lot more lackadaisical up here, away from the tourist areas. If I really wanted to, I could just pop over the Mekong into Laos and smoke myself silly for pennies anyway. I'm not sure. I don't think so, but there could well be a change of government again soon. Most people I know feel quite happy with this Apisit dude.
Loads of great places in C and S America. Its the sort of place that sort of got in my "blood".U know u just want more of it?The sights, sounds, smells, everything. Its alot like a paradise to me. I was surprised Shina went back to Thailand. I thought he bought at football club like Roman Abramovich thinking he could get support from Britain against extradition should things ever go sour for him. I know he was corrupt and unpleasant with death squads etc.But to me, Thailand went abit down in my estimation when the so called King took over over.
so called King???? Where do you get so-called from? The King didn't take over. I wish he did sometimes. He is one of the few people in this country that is trying to advance the place educationally, and environmentally.
No but wasn't he the constitutional basis for ousting Shinawatra? I know he makes it all look like he's "above" politics. All the king stuff out there seems alot like Britain. I read all this stuff " the Thai king is extremely revered and loved. And no-one is permitted or would dare look at him". Reminds me of all the crap that is peddled to foreigners about Britain's so-called" adored" Royals. BTW I don't like royalty-English , Saudi or Thai. Altho I quite like a Russian style one- ie lying at the bottom of a mineshaft...
Well, being Irish, I'm not exactly a big fan of royalty. And there is a bit of brainwashing that goes on over here as regards the King. Its not acceptable to discuss him in public for onr. There has been censorship of anything that speaks against him(movies and books have been banned and people jailed). However, the man doing a lot of positive things for his country, much more than the corrupt politicians. He is genuinely loved by the Thai people. He is really pushing sustainable farming, has replaced all of the opium farms in the north with tea and coffee plantations, educated the farmers there about making money from these crops without raping the land. He has spoken out against corruption, opened AIDS education/treatment centres, orphanages, schools for the extremely poor hill-tribes. On the other hand, his son who is the next in line, is a womanising immoral wanker. There seems to be a lot of talk that the King, before he dies, will change the rules and allow his eldest daughter to be corronated. Who knows?
Hmm.I always think they get other people to do the dirty work. And make emselves look the "quaint, traditional, harmless ones". It sort of reminds me of books I read about Britain saying how much everyone "loves our Royal family". Like for like, I'd always prefer a republic. Its a big reason why I'd feel uncomfortable about Dubai, for instance.
I agree with you, both posts. If you don't care, quit. Until then, do what you're supposed to be doing. I could sympathise if someone was doing that job for 20 odd jobs, not getting anywhere, but if you've not even started working yet, um no. Not to mention if you actually specifically plan to be a crap employee.
