I found a strip of .22 blanks on my street as I was walking back to my building. They are the kind of .22 cartridges for a Ramset powder actuated nailgun for nailing 2x4's and steel track (or pretty much anything) into concrete or brick. It uses the .22 cartridge to literally shoot the nail into the concrete. Well being the pyro I am I gripped on cartridge firmly with linesman pliers and turned on the stove. I stuck it in the flame and in a few seconds...BOOM. That shit was loud as fuck...it sounded like a gunshot, like somebody just fired a duece-duece or something. My ears are still ringing from that shit! I heard cops sirens a few minutes after that, but I always hear sirens....
The shit you find on the streets of new york, i tell ya. I've seen so many somewhat shocking things. They don't shock me anymore…but maybe to the average person….
No comparison AceK has proven time and time again that he’s smarter than a 5th grader - Right? :leaving: Hotwater
I would like to add that I did wear safety glasses when I did this, it was supposed to go into the OP. What's crazy is how loud it was, and the density in this building is quite high it's a small five story walk up with 5 apartments per floor. And it's as if no one noticed, or heard. My windows were open too, people had to have heard that shit. I always see movies where they go into an apartment in the project and shoot some people and I always think "wouldn't somebody have heard that"? But it seems that I could shoot somebody right in my apartment and no one would even react to it....turn the music up real loud first tho before you shoot them
Ya its funny, when Im making noise in my new place… I'm like shit I'm so loud. But I left my TV blaring when I went down to the basement a minutes ago…and as I was locking my door I was surprised that I could barely hear my tv from just outside the door. Interrrresting.
Someone else may have just thought it sounded like I hit something hard with a hammer. Or they might think it's the construction workers.
so what made you wanna do this? did you think it would be quiet? outside it is probably much quieter.
No I knew it would be loud as fuck. I'm a pyromaniac, wat can I say. When I was an early teenager we used to drill out the tops of empty CO2 cartridges. Then cut open shotgun shells and fill the CO2 cartridges up with the nitrocellulose from the shotgun shells. Then we'd set them off at the park at night, or throw them down in the sewer. Now those things...talk about loud. (Do this inside and you will die I promise, or your house will be very fucked up too) I even made an electrically detonated small pipe bomb once when I found a spool of twisted pair cable the telephone company workers left behind. It was plenty of wire to get to a safe distance to detonate:2thumbsup: Never have I harmed anyone or any property blowing things up. I'm not a terrorist!
bud and I was sitting there one day and i thought to charge this watch battery with jerry rigging multi-voltage pack with some paper clips. we got to doing something and that thing popped.. sounded like flash bang grenade.
Same thing happened when I tried to solder a CR2032 lithium watch battery to a circuit board....got to hot and boom! What your really supposed to do is weld the battery to the contacts with a resistance spot welder, it's very quick so the whole battery doesn't get so hot and explode. And as far as setting of a .22 blank outside cuz it might be quieter....it might hurt my eardrums less because there's more open space for the sound waves to travel through...but that'd probably scare some people.....or maybe not, this is Da Heights...
You shoulda joined the army where they pay you to play with stuff like that. I got to play with C4 and all kinds of weird shit. Didn't stay long as an ammunition tech tho. For some reason I lost interest in it and went to police the skies instead but it was fun for a while. My dad was shocked that I picked that trade first knowing I could work out in dirty ammo dumps and bunkers. He thought I would wanna be a medic or something more office like. Nope,,, not for me.
Still having a hard time hearing out of my right ear....ever lit a firecracker and it had a bad fuse and went off right by your ear as u were about to throw it....it's kinda like that.
That could do it. They always gave us ear plugs or ear muffs and I wore both. My mom has tinnitus and it drives her nuts sometimes. Some people commit suicide over it.
