I say def go for the bigger sidecut n see what your skull looks like. It will make wearing your hair flipped easier too

thank you girls <3 the top is locking up good but after about 4/5 inches it's quite bendy and wispy. I'm still deciding whether to cut more into the sidecut. My momma complimented the way my hair looks up the other day so I'd have to hear her narfing on about it if I did. The other day she said, 'your dreads look very matted' she sill doesn't get them even after 9months! I wish I had some mates who are good with a scissors. I've trusted some with the sidecut in the past and regretted it when they left me with some bald patches and some long chunks. I wonder if a hairdresser would do it. I'd want it into a perfect curve.

 

Unless it's a "specialist alt salon" that'll charge extortionate prices, I'd imagine not. Most hairdressers in our part of the world aren't that bright and wouldn't touch your hair.

definitely lrger sidecut, honestly and not trying to be annoying but I didnt see the sidecut till you mentioned it

 

It's gonna be a bit dictated by the shapes of the bases of the dreads you cut off. Once you've got the right shape shaved after cutting, you'll prob have to let some leftover hair grow back out into skinny dreads, or just tuck it into the old dreads once it's long enough.

Go for it though. I'm pretty sure my sidecut is gonna gradually creep its way up my head haha it's funnnn!!
