Ha, Prana - that shit rocks. Blue Planet's terrific and Deep Sea's the best of 'em. I like Style Wars, the 1982 doc about graffiti culture.
You should watch the one of the people jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. They recorded the jumpers for a year and then identified them, and interviewed their family members and you get to see their final jump. It is crazy. Very emotional. Please Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/JackStratiff
http://www.pbs.org/civilwar/war/ http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/baseball/ I'm a fan of Ken Burns . He does a great job with this civil war documentary & if your into baseball - he does another classic doc on the ol' American pastime :hat:
i agree with you.those two were the best.great shows.i liked baseball a little more.the turn of century photos were really something to experience.john chancellor lent just the right voice to the history of the game.thanks for the reminder of a show i greatly enjoyed.if i had to pick the best player of all time i'd go with ty cobb.maybe wasn't a real nice person but it's not a popularity contest.other people would pick someone else and they'd be equally right.
This one was great....I was surprised to stumble upon it again while surfing on YouTube THOTH if ever I find myself in NewYork...I would specifically try to look him up and watch a prayformance
"the powers of ten" by ray and charles eames.the film begins by going into space useing the powers of ten until the viewer out as far as is known to exists....it then comes back and the viewer goes into microscopic views of the human body.i don't describe it well.i haven't seen it in about 30 years but it is was very good.
Electric Purgatory its about black rockers not making it in the Rock N Roll business. alots of great history.
I don't know if I'd call it "must see", but I recently enjoyed American Hardcore (about the early 80s American hardcore scene.)
Bruce Haack: King of Techno (2004) - The life of Bruce Haack, early pioneer of electronic music, the film is also visually experimental in form. Hybrid - The life story of Milford Beeghly: Iowa farmer, early developer of hybrid seed corn,(2000) - Though this may sound boring, the film is also quite experimental and well done visually. Wisconsin Death Trip - Chronicles the town of Black River Falls in the 1890's that seems gripped by some peculiar malaise and the weekly news is dominated by bizarre tales of madness, eccentricity and violence amongst the local population. Rivers and Tides - (2001) -about landscape sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, beautiful Triumph of the Will - Whether or not this a documentary or as some would call it, propaganda, its an historically, a very important film.
I think EVERYBODy should be required to see "The U.S. Versus John Lennonn." That film shines such a different perspective on his life and work as an activist. Also, the classic "Woodstock:" should go without saying.
