I can relate to people who don't get Radiohead, Nickleback and Blink 192 very well.

I understand Pressed Rats dislike for bands like Led Zep and Queen: but some other bands in the genre are the shit so its not primarily the music genre for me. Edit: it's not the genre at all. If so it must be the specific subgenre of 'stadion rock'.

I dislike and not get stuff like christian rock, most emo stuff, nu metal, trance like Armin van Buren.

"Sell Out" works pretty hard to use harmony and horns. It's a good track, but if you don't like ska... you don't like ska. :sunglasses:

I like some ska, but not all. The Specials for example are good to me. But I don't listen to the Skatellites; who are like the Beatles of ska music. lol

I'm more into roots reggae and dub than ska as well (including Skatellites), but one thing I love is the Skatalites in dub (a.k.a. Skatalites meet King Tubby)

Anything that some clown in his basement with a computer has produced without any knowledge of actually playing an instrument. Also anything that uses Autotune.

I think at the end of the day, it's all about personal preferences. The fact remains that the kind of music I find to be crap is still widely popular. I can be totally bitter about it which I am, or I can learn to deal with it and do what I'm suppose to do which I do try to.

I like that dubby sounding stuff too! :)

But I'm more of a No Doubt "Spiderwebs" kind of person than I am into Lee Scratch Perry. :D

Lee Perry released an awful amount of dub. Some is really good (the best in the genre) and a lot average.

Depends in what way one is making music on it if it's actually counts as a musical instrument in the literal sense.

Its not at first instance a musical instrument, wether you can use it as such or not. But where it becomes really arguable who's making the music is with music were most of the ingredients come directly out of the computer, like whole drum patterns etc.

I'd argue that still counts as making music though you probably don't need the same level of understanding of music theory and whatnot. Maybe I'm just biased because I listen to a lot of electronic music

I enjoy plenty of electronic music too. And although technically a person making music on a computer is making music, yes. But so is a person using a bucket and his hands for percussion. Does that makes a bucket a musical instrument?
The focus was on the question wether a computer is a musical instrument. It can be used as such. It depends on how it is used for making music though, wether the computer or the person pushing buttons is primarily responsible for the music.
