yeah, i must have missed that too.

actually he mentioned the 60s, but then asked if there are any psychedelic bands he has missed. psychedelic music didn't stop in 1970

Oh btw I tried modest mouse on my last trip, they were way tripper than I would have imagined!

The doors are still one of my favorites though, you get so lost in the melody! And Jim morrisons voice is just soothing, almost an instrument within itself.

Jimi Hendrix is known as the jimi Hendrix experience for a reason haha. I'd recommend checking out the compilation kiss the sky, i normally don't like compilations but that has a perfect mix. Are you exp? Purple haze, castles in the sand, third stone from the sun, all along the watchtower, and some more, it's great!

I'd prefer 60s music, but psychedelic music most certainly hasn't stopped being made, but the birth of it fascinates me the most, it was as if the world was under a muse energy field! Haha

Yeah, I definitely feel you on listening to 60's psychedelic music. And yeah, I incredibly love the trippiness and acid references! :D This is one of the most direct songs about LSD from the 60's. This video even has visual accompaniment! The 13th Floor Elevators actually made a point of performing most of their songs on acid, and they were actually the ones who coined the phrase "psychedelic rock".

You should definitely also hear Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavilion" album if you haven't yet. It came out in 2009, and it's a psychedelic masterpiece. Very electronic, but it really builds off of 60's psychedelic music. Intense, trippy, layered, experimental pop. Lyrics are superb, too. And I'm the type of person who only goes to the late 60's and early 70's for psychedelic music, so that's saying something.

A girl next to me at a record store said, "Get this one." So of course I did - Electric Music for the Mind and Body by Country Joe and the Fish

To me, the Incredible String Band was the highest, purest acid vision group. They and the Dead were part of almost every trip for me.
    Dream the world all alive
Busily conspiring, humming like a hive
    Dream the world all alive
I dream it as me ...

@thismoment I'd love to meet that girl. haha Hope you took the opportunity for a good conversation, because that's awesome she was at a record store and was open enough to recommend that to you. Great taste in music. :) That Country Joe & The Fish video is from Monterey. I have it remastered on DVD. I'm pretty sure that clip was longer. Amazing performance of them playing "Section 43".

Unfortunately, The Incredible String Band is still one of those artists I haven't checked out yet. But I can say the same for A LOT of music. I've definitely heard of them, though. Good reminder of music for me to snatch. I know they were produced by Joe Boyd, same guy who produced Nick Drake and Pink Floyd's first single.

This is somewhat off topic of my own thread.. BUT does anyone play Xbox/ps3? Assassins creed soundtrack was really something special! I'd also imagine The halo soundtrack to be cool

Then does anyone play an instrument? Whenever I play a complicated song on guitar, my trip gets really heavy, it's as if my concentrated thoughts bring more to the trip.. I can't explain it, it's really hard, but it sounds and looks amazing! I plan to wait a while for my next trip, and then trip only in my world of creativity, my own music, art, stories, etc. and nothing else.. Your own creativity embellishes with a trip, and I think if you aim to work on that, you can really find your own style to art!

Tool's album "Lateralus" is an amazing psychedelic album.

Check out the lyrics for Parabola:

We barely remember who or what came
    before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now.
    Hold on, stay inside
This holy reality, this holy experience.
    Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. It's my
reminder here that I am not
    alone in
This body, this body holding me, we are
    eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

    Alive, I'm

In this holy reality, in this holy
experience. Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. It's my
reminder here that I am not
    alone in
This body, this body holding me, we are
    eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

    Twirling round with this familiar
    parabole.
    Spinning, weaving round each new
    experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and
celebrate this chance to be alive and
breathing, this chance to be alive and
    breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my
    own mortality.
    Embrace this moment. Remember. we
    are eternal.
all this pain is an illusion.

Definitely an awesome album, although "Faaip De Oiad" had me shitting myself the first time I listened to this album whilst tripping. I didn't notice the music had stopped, forgot about it and then... well listen to it and you can probably imagine.... (On the full album there's a 4 or 5 minute gap of silence between the previous tracks ending and the start of this one - for those who don't know :p)
