John Butler Trio is awesome... if you like jack johnson and ben harper then you'll probably like them too.

Devendra Banhart is good. Very folksy

Anthony B - some of the best dancehall around

    Black Uhuru - great reggae

    Seeed - german dancehall

these are just a few from the top of my head.

    My favorite bands are:

    Coheed and Cambria
    Flaw
    They Came Burning
    Haste The Day
    Lamb of God
    Calm

Been listening to all of these bands for years now, i like them because there is so much depth, musical harmony, the lyrics... Lamb of god isnt a band about lyrics, their musicianship is flawless. Flaw lyrics are very empowering and relative to me, makes my blood run cold. coheed and cambria... if you want to hear some good songs from them, download every album and listen to them all in 1 session (this would be hard as hell) but nearly impossible for most as the singer sounds like a little girl, look beyond and feel the fuckin music, unspeakably dynamic. they truly define their technique and set it well above the bar.

my choices arent very similar to a lot of other styles some of you have posted, these are like metal bands (cept for flaw, and coheed and cambria) and all styles of music take time to get into unless you just naturally like the sound, some bands you have to figure out and a lot of people dont want to figure them out, which is fine

Another good band IMO is Leftfield. Especially Open up with John Lydon singing.
