I think with big name actors who have created a sort of "character " with their own personalities over the years and who seem larger than life (thinking of people like Tom Cruise, Will Smith, etc) it can be difficult to separate them as people from the roles they play And they dont really play characters that have a lot of depth or nuance in the first place so that also plays a part. But even if they were playing a complex character, I think I would still see Tom Cruise rather than the character. Whereas a lesser known actor has more room to disappear into the role
I thought she was hinting at the fact the protagonists/heroes/main roles are often matching the beauty ideals, while the side characters, losers or bad guys are average or quaint looking.
I know what you mean. That's why I like HBO stuff. Usually you get these no names you've never seen before and it's a hit of fresh air really. Then after the series you slowly start to see them in movies or other series. I find it irritating actually watching a movie and it's just so unrealistic with all these glam up plastic barbie dolls. This is one reason I really liked the original terminators and aliens is I don't find Linda Hamilton or Sigourney Weaver attractive at all and that's a good thing because it's the action that sells, not the actress. Well I guess as I got older Linda Hamilton was kinda adorable in Terminator and then just a bad ass in T2 so she's pretty fucking rad to me now, but still I watch her for her badassery, not her looks. Where'm I going with this again? Yeah... A movie with no name ordinary looking people are usually pretty good for me.
I'm the same generally. But... I always thought the mom in the first 2 Terminator movies was obviously (partly) cast because she's hot. Not dolled up perhaps, but that also doesn't suit the character or role (which indeed is annoying in a lot of other movies)
Escape Room - 7/10 Combines the concept behind the Cube and Saw movies, but without much gore. Watchable if not ground breaking. Could have done without the last 5 mins or so completely exposing the organisation behind the "games" and their processes.
I was genuinely shocked by the ending and it had to be visual, you couldn’t just zoom in on the faces with someone exclaiming “OMG She’s a he” they had to show Angela naked and bloody with a hard-on.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That 19 year old blonde who took the pulsating cream pie injection in the face from the BBC is my hero – she’s a real trooper
No idea about this movie but hotwater s comment intrigued me. Somehow not what i expected when I read the title in Dude111's post
I last watched THE GREAT ESCAPE (1963) on VHS I wonder why the same girl (Felissa) wasnt in part 2,3 or 4??? (I wonder if she knew they would be stupid so she didnt wanna bother)
Dude! You talking about this gem... That is a BANGER of a film! Very few movies have made me feel as uncomfortable as that one did!
