It’s a great film, but it’s hard to watch. The elephant man was first diagnosed with a form of Neurofibromatosis but after a modern re investigation it was determined he suffered from a more severe form called Proteus syndrome
I watched the first half of a movie with Mel Gibson abut a Mexican Prison. I think the movie is called The Gringo or something I've heard about it before. It was interesting, I'm not sure about prisons but if that's realistic then wow! It's so different than anything you'd imagine. It's literally just a town and do what you want. Anyway I did not get to watch all of it. All in all, I don't think Mel played a good part. It was very awkward and Signs like.
I don't think you Mel, wasn't a looker amongst them. But I like movies like that, that's why I kinda like Gibson movies etc. They're more real instead of glam up women and stuff. Every other director would put hot chicks in dirty make up, Gibbo will just use an ordinary person. It makes it feel much more aunthentic for the actual movie story etc.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah Mel Gibson briefly went all beaner on us with the movies Get the Gringo and Machete Kills
He was meant to do a Viking movie and a Holocaust movie. I heard he was not allowed to portray the films as accurately as he would have liked so he didn't go ahead with them. Not sure what the holocaust portrayed would have been but I heard for the Vikings he wanted to shed more light on the culture rather than the fighting and brutal side that everyone knows.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well at least he hasn’t had any recent meltdowns like when he was collared for drunk driving, and he referred to the female officer as “sugar tits” and yelled out “the fucking Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world”....lol...
I do like movies that use normal looking people and lesser known actors. Sometimes beautiful perfect actors or huge, big name actors take away from the story line
^ Same with clothes. Especially a lack thereof on women of course. Last example i have in mind was the widow in the The magnificent 7 remake. Although the movie tries to be more fun and an average action western anyway, not the most accurate or compelling story, it is obvious they spend attention on the historic authenticity of set pieces and clothing. But the top of the widow would only be worn in public like that by a prostitute me thinks
I don't like romantic dramas unless they're 'costume dramas'. The settings and peculiar society and their differences are what makes it good to me. If its in the present it has to be a good romcom (like Bridget Jones diary). Only humor can make a romantic drama bearable then
Why do you think this is? I know some actors get typecast and it's difficult to imagine them in a different genre or role but it seems like you might be alluding to something beyond that as well.
