I'm watching "Trumbo". It has Brian Cranston ("Breaking Bad") in it. It's about... well, I will post a synopsis if I can remember to once it's over. It takes place after World War II and the government is investing Cranston for being a communist. It's interesting because some of the language parallels are relevant. It puts some spin on the conversation about democratic socialism I think. Interesting movie.
Sean Connery was originally supposed to play the role of John Hammond which would have been interesting.
This movie was reasonably good; really cool if you're into Charlize Theron. She's so cool. Anyway, the movie is about a mom and her children... My explanation won't do it justice, but I'll try. One of her kids is sort of autistic or something like that; severe ADHD or what have you, and has to change schools. In the middle of everything she has a baby. Her wealthy brother recommends she try something called a night-nanny, who he will pay for for her. Enter Tully, the night-nanny. Tully is a young woman who is gentle and caring etc. She helps care for the family... and that concludes my synopsis. I didn't watch the ending because I got tired, but it was turning out to be a pretty good flick!
I last saw this movie when I was a kid. The last line in the story really made an impact on me. So seeing it again, after more than 40 years was worth the effort. Unfortunately the recording has a few spots of heavy 80s music dumped in to fool copyright detection. But it's only a few places near the beginning. It's the story of Romulus and Remus made in 1961 and dubbed in English with Italian subtitles. What's really great is that it's not presented as mystic bullshit but as a plausible legend.
last night I watched part of one about some rioting in Detroit. It was set in the civil rights era. What I noticed the most about it was that it wasn't notably on the side of African-Americans, who were rioting because of mistreatment by law enforcement. I may have turned it off too early though. It has John Boyega in it too. He is also Finn in "Star Wars".
There's a long and short version? Im going to say long.. We taught our dog "das Boot" but not accurately, though when we tell him "das Boot" he will bring my combat boots to me.
