Triple Frontier on Netflix hmmm - very average - not particularly gripping, most of the action scenes are in the trailer, dragged on a bit. Nothing new about it. Looked great in the trailer but at best 6/10.
I've been watching more German films as I struggle to become as proficient as I am in Spanish (100 words, total). And I happened upon this whilst praying to Amazon: It's very haunting and shows just how weird the divide between soldiers and officers can be in military settings. The Third Reich took pride in the sheer numbers of geniuses they had as officers and cabinet members. This film lays that bare in a way I hadn't seen before. Simple logic should tell them to double check this guy, but he says he's authorized by Hitler himself, so everyone lets him have his way. What's amazing is how readily a private, who stole a deserting officer's uniform, could slip into the role of a Reich officer. But it was simple, he just acted with uncommon brutality and spoke very little (probably to hide his low-country accent). Anyone who asked for his papers went down in his notebook, which was a terrifying thing to have happen as Germany was losing the war and suffering through skyrocketing crime, largely by deserters. The 1-sheet really captures his style. Everyone else, is shit!
Excellent film. I watched the movie (with no english subtitles) and had no trouble following the plot. The only German I know was by watching The Wannsee Conference (1984) The Battle of the Bulge, (1965) and every episode of Hogan’s Heroes...lol...
I haven't been watching them lately. I just turn in early after an episode from television on Netflix or two.
