I think many 'horror' films these days, are not what they use to be, and aren't in fact scary at all. That's just me though.
the 1st paranormal shook me like no other for some reason.. some movie called "Maniac" when i was a kid
this might be weird.. but .. Fatal Attraction gave me nightmares!!!!!!!! I had nightmares of her chasing me with a knife and trying to kill me.. weird.
Alfred Hitchcock's ''The Birds'' scared the shit out of me a few years ago. It used atmosphere and suspense to scare, instead of trying to shock with overloads of ultra realistic gore, which is what a lot of modern ''horror'' movies seem to do. I also found Eraserhead to be quite disturbing, but in a different way. The pervading atmosphere of corruption and unhappiness, not to mention the weird mutant and horrific industrial society all added...
The Grudge 1-the hallway scene was frikken terrifying, other wise horror dont really scare me , real life scares me
The Exorcist Boogeyman (1977) Phantasms (original) Blair Witch Poltergeist Boogeyman had this background hum and the theatre I where I saw it you could hear the cars motoring outside. But I didn't know it, so I heard the background sound from the cars when there wasn't noise in the movie and it freaked me out. But it was also just plain scary.
The movie isn't out yet haha! But that preview of the kids saying "bloody Mary" over and over and she's hanging out behind them...might have to see it.
