Has there ever been a time in your life where a popular blockbuster hit was loved by the masses, but you felt like you were the only one in the world who hated it? I can recall a time in my childhood when such a movie came out. It was called "Space Jam." I tried really hard to like this movie and fit in with the rest of my friends. I loved the Loony Toons and I loved Michael Jordan. I collected basketball cards. And I loved movies like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" where real actors interacted with cartoons. But Space Jam was garbage. Michael Jordan is a terrible actor who I dare say is worse on the big screen then Shaq. Jordan couldn't convince me that he was actually interacting with any of the Loony Toons characters. He was awkward the entire time. Where are his acting coaches? To his credit, most professional athletes make crappy hollywood actors, but he had the easiest role any actor could play in a movie: Himself. The Loony Tunes weren't funny in this one either. Space Jam came into existence when Nike partnered with Warner Bros to make children's commercials using the Loony Tunes to promote Jordan Brand products. The commercials were wildly successful. As a result they decided to turn these commercials into a huge motion picture. Space Jam was filled to the brim with product placements. All my friends loved Space Jam because that was the cool thing to do. I had to keep my passionate hatred for it a secret.
SpaceJam BLOWS. Christ almighty it blows. The one that instantly pops into mind for me is Frozen. I hate this god damned movie so much.
Anchorman, zoolander, napoleon dynamite. Most Will Farell movies actually too. I just don't find him funny. I'm not a huge Ben Stiller fan either.
Every movie based off comic books. Every. Single. One. except The Warriors But especially 300. Terrible, shitty movie. I've never seen a marvel movie a can say I really enjoyed.
most action or comic book movies, I would say I'm a girl that way except most girls I know like those movies too. inception. People talked about that movie like it was the most profound thing ever
i have a hard time hating movies. even movies that are terrible, i usually have a decent time watching. that said, this thread pretty much sums up what i would answer if i had to. will ferrell and ben stiller are not remotely funny, and comic book movies are awful.
I agree about movies based off comic books and 300 especially. An exception for me would be some of the X-men movies. But I have no nostalgic feelings for those comics so that might help. Loving the books so much is probably why I don't really dig the Lord of the rings movies. It just doesn't match my own imagery often or exactly well/satisfying enough. Another movie based on a comic that everybody seems to love and I didn't like at all was Sin city.
Oh yeah I hated the Lord of the rings movies too. Actually it was less hate an more boredom. I've seen all three because it was somehow inescapable and I remember very little. I wasn't a huge fan of the books either though. I don't know why though, I love most other fantasy books.
I didn't care for the LOTR movies compared to the books, I thought the movies lost some of the more fun, fantastical elements. But they're okay as stand alone movies, I still watch them everytime they're on TV. now the Harry Potter movies I just really can't stomach. The first one is great but after that and especially the last 3 or 4 movies they just strayed way too far from the books.
I fell asleep during Twilight so action speaks louder than words in that instance. Other than that, The movie that comes to mind is Donnie Darko. I'm not sure it was ever a "blockbuster" but it has become kind of a cult classic, which many of my favorite movies are considered and I enjoy sci-fi, but that movie didn't do it for me.
I hate the one about that big ship that hit an iceberg and sank ! gets on my fukin tits Oh and that song off it makes me want to throw up
Oh my god that is too funny, I LOVED Space Jam when I was a kid. I think I went to see it 3 times in cinema. I actually found it on DVD several months ago and bought it for my DVD collection - It wasn't nearly as good as I remember, but still pretty cute.
I can't see eye to eye with you on Twilight, because I LOVE that film (can't believe I'm even brave enough to admit that here, but I'm not gonna pretend I am someone I'm not), however I do agree with you about Donnie Darko. I don't get what all the fuss is about with that movie.
Dude, Where's My Car? Maybe I was just too young to get the jokes (I was 15 when I watched it), but I HATED that movie. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I've been meaning to give it another chance, but haven't crossed paths with it yet. As soon as I do, I will watch it for sure.
Well one thing that amazes me is the original Space Jam website from 1996 is STILL ONLINE! Check it out: http://www.warnerbros.com/archive/spacejam/movie/jam.htm It's such a cliche horribly designed '90s website from the dark ages of web design. I hope they keep it online forever, this is a big piece of internet history I wanna show my grand kids what the internet used to look like when I was their age
