exactly the point... ford transmissions from mazda, hondas manufactured in Ohio... are we really going to keep insisting where something is made has anything to do with it's value or quality? Sweet...oh but they used lucas electronics If I remember right, legendary for being a nightmare of gremlins!
I had one. the press at the time of the Jap invasion did nothing for the Brit bikes, and some things the Brits did had merit but the press and money wanted the the sales to go to the rising jap industry. Even today a good BSA A65 twin makes a lot of sense , reliable cheap.
http://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html absolutely. the american and british marques dominated for so long, with a few like Bultaco and Hodaka in motocross and odd stuff but ya... they didn't do much to defend the home turf until that stupid 750cc or less trade protection law to help protect HD in the states during the 80s.
 That was about the time they banned the import of my all time dream bike...sigh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG7uG3If87w"]Yamaha RD400 Daytona Special - YouTube
BSA built a range of new bike that had many new features on their old bikes , conical hubs ,oil in frames and some exhausts that were box-like and tucked away much like modern bikes. The press didn't give BSA a go even though they were good bikes and better than Norton or Triumph. Honda etc built some real duds that had evil handling and people were killed on , engines shit themselves .......the press always praised the japs no matter how bad the bikes were. A BSA 500 race bike won The Barcelona 24 hour Race a couple of times in the seventies but the magazines never mentioned it. Like BMW dominating WC side-car racing until the mid seventies with their Rennsport engines.
4:03 looks like heaven... that is why i will own a bike one day..within 4 years. it will be a 250... then in a few years id jump to something bigger. i know just where id go in the far country roads too... road trip with sleeping bag/tent and a backpack.. it will happen.
For the moment prepare your mind, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" Robert Pirsig. still a great book! Perhaps greater now that society is so fecked?

man my grampa has this bike: and an old honda: not actual bike, but images of the models. He let me ride the honda a few times and I'd really be down to ride more, but I have ot finish getting my driver's license before I work on the motorcycle license. I reallly need to get that license. I've tried riding motorbikes a bit, but I've yet to have that experience. And ducatis are fucking cool but I think a sick BMW could be just as awesome as a sports bike
Voyage--I've been on Little Tujunga--but not on a bike. Bikers should know that on the west coast, there are innumerable roads just like LT from the interior valleys to the coast from Socal clear up to the Canadian border. Lots and lots of drives like you showed.
