In about 2 months I'm gonna be graduating and for my graduation my grandparents are going to give me $10,000 (I know I thought that was insane the first time I heard it as well) and I figured I'm gonna be living on my own soon and getting my own transportation is a good first step toward that and iv been trying to decide what I should get a motorcycle? Or a car? Basically here is the pros and cons of both

    Motorcycle:
Pro:cheaper from the offset between $2,000-$3,000

    Pro:better gas mileage

    Pro: cheaper repair

    Con:not automatic

    Con:need a new liscene

    Con: potentially more dangerous

    Car:

    Pro:safer

    Pro:
......I got nothing lol but anyway what do u guys think car or motorcycle?

i agree with the advantages of two wheels over four. but four or more wheels (with a small form factor that probably isn't familiar, even as a concept to most americans) on a narrow gauge railroad track are even better for almost all of them.

(i am unfamiliar with the use of hookers as a transportation technology. i am curious as to how this would be done.)

Azur, I would not get a motorcycle because they aren't very safe.

cars aren't as safe as people have been taught they are either. this is actually an advantage for the scoot, that it doesn't give you that illusion of being safer then you really are.
if you want safe, put it on rails with a good interlocking signal system. safer then that there ain't.

as if it would kill any of us, especially those who bitch about obesity, to walk a couple of feet further to a bus stop.

Compared to a small car the fuel consumption is not that much better. You will need a new visor for you helmet every few months. Maintenance is far more frequent on a motorbike. The chain needs frequent lubrication and adjustment- something you have to learn how to do yourself. I think you should consider a small hatchback. You can sleep in it if you have to.

Car. Get a motorcycle as a second vehicle unless you want to be wild, which you may.

Really, really dangerous by the way. Not just a little bit.

If you are trying to increase your odds of getting from one location to another, without injury, a car is the better choice of the two.

a car is more useful for hauling a ton of crap with you, that's for sure, but not that much better on fuel? you must be comparing a 64 datsun pikup with a harley hog.
my 1962 honda 55 got 200 miles to the gallon. the tank held less then a gallon, so i didn't go any long road trips on it. my dad's 63 datsun pickup, the one that looked like a modified austin with a pickup bed, we once made it 50 miles on the fumes in the carborator. its just the thing is, if you live in a city, and you aren't going so someplace that isn't one, that you can get a bus back from, and you aren't trying to drag a ton of shit with you, why are you even driving?

if you're trying to get safely from point a to point be, and your only choice is between a car and a motor cycle, lets face it, you're not really giving yourself that much of a real choice.

its true i'm not the same religion as most americans. i don't worship cars or money.
