Knowing amongst all the playground politics and nonsense, what I do at work really makes a difference. It makes it all worth while.
I am highly motivated when I get to do work that I enjoy naturally. If I cannot get to do work that I enjoy naturally, I then discipline my attitude/mindset and try to cultivate an interest in the work that I must do or my duty at the moment. I do this, as working reluctantly takes a major expenditure of my time, energy and resources, creating negativity as well. Consciously enjoying work with a positive and disciplined attitude provides me with a lot of energy, focus and positivity. I learnt this approach through trial and error, along with study of words of wisdom with respect to work and performance of duty.
I am now thankful I'm retired, that ther is no such thing as the dreaded four-letter swear word (W***) as far as I'm concerned and if I choose to sit in my recliner armchair all day, I can do so without feeling guilty !!!
You are posting here your thoughts on diverse subjects, and that is work, imo. However you enjoy doing it creatively, and don't feel it as work. A student who has to do a school composition on the subject of motivation or side-effects of covid 19, may feel it to be hard work, if he does not enjoy what he is doing and consider it to be slog work he has to do as part of his academic career.
It took only a little motivation for me to head home today. I did not want to be stuck in traffic all heading to Bournemouth tomorrow for our heatwave.
You can't get up if you've never been pushed Just like you can't get to the top if you never start the climb.
Worrying about the "what if's" is like riding a rocking horse. It will give you something to do but won't actually get you anywhere.
