What gets you motivated each day? Are there certain tasks, that you drag your feet to complete? Are you one of those that puts things off, to the last minute?
I'm motivated by helping someone out with a task, sending a gift or card, donating, having positive thoughts and conversations. Planning surprises. I drag my feet with laundry, sweeping the floors of dog hair and Little Pete feathers. I pay my bills at the last minute. Usually online just before it's time. I get that snail mail time stamp at the PO.
Yes helping others is something that motivates me too. I have good and bad days motivating myself for menial tasks. But I also lack motivation for making decisions for those that lack capacity and trying to put myself in their shoes.
I'm pretty sure after 12 years of 10-16 hour days of editing nonstop with perhaps 3 vacations in there, that I have figured out how to help the meek inherit the earth and explain quantum mechanics in the process. I'm working on the last chapter now, taking it slow and just thinking about it and talking to people, but its beautiful as well as, infantile! Recently I visited a website filled with Socratic philosophers and physicists, who instantly took a shine to what I'm writing. After all these years, I'm having to force myself to calm down and not get too excited.
The Wisdom of Collective Ignorance: Know.. | WritersCafe.org | The Online Writing Community wuliheron > Writing | WritersCafe.org | The Online Writing Community The first link contains the chapters of the book, with the second chapter making anyone go crosseyed explaining all the formal philosophy and physics in terms of potty humor and linguistic analysis and neurology. The poetry is 12,000 year old potty humor that is still wildly popular around the world, and all public domain that anyone can improve upon at any time and nobody will ever own. I consider these poems the magical legacy of our own children.
Interesting question. I don't think i need much motivation though. Like if you're doing something out of love or enjoyment, do you really need motivation to do it?
