It's Mother's Day tomorrow here in Australia and i think in the USA. Hope you are spoiling your mums rotten with love and gifts.
Yep thanks for giving birth to me that I never asked to live this life for. Nahh, congrats mums. Hope it's a good day and breakfast in bed.
Yes!! I got my mom a nice card and left the heavy lifting (soap, chocolates, whatever else...) to my dad. lol
I will admit that, when my mother died of cancer at 57, I was relieved. Mother's Day was always so phony for me because I never really liked mine.
So sorry to hear that. I was neglected by my natural mother when i was 18 months old. My natural mother passed away from a form of cancer on 5/3/19 just a month away from her 70th birthday.
This year, Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 8, 2022. The holiday is on a different date each year but always takes place on the second Sunday in May. Why do we celebrate Mother's Day? It all dates back to Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis, a social activist and community organizer, during the Civil War era. Before the Civil War, Jarvis, of West Virginia, created the Mother’s Day Work Club, with the goal of teaching local ladies how to care for their children. These clubs unified women. In 1868, Jarvis came up with something called Mothers’ Friendship Day, which had moms of Confederate and Union soldiers come together to promote harmony. In the 1900s, Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann, came up with a fairly genius idea that was ahead of its time: a day to honor mothers and the sacrifices they make for their kids. Thus, Mother’s Day was born.
My life would not have been affected at all. I'm too old to change. Plus my mother passed away, this was my first year without her sadly. So others are free to say what they like. Pink Floyd's song Mother would sound screwed up. if they said; Birth Person should I trust the government?
So we should call trans men with kids "mothers" because inclusive language is "stupid?" What about lesbian couples with children? Both parents are "mother" but only one is the birthing parent. We can't differentiate between the two because, stupid? There is nothing wrong with deciding to use more polite and more inclusive language.
