chris arp(I think I spelled that right) from psyopus.I saw him twice with hank williams 3,& I can't beleive they're relatively unknown.I guess the style would be called experimental metal, but this dude is awesome. He does alot of the steve vai-like tappin shit, but way heavier,& way better.I think he also plays sometimes with assjack in live shows.fairly young man,mid 20's I beleive, but definitely worth checkin out if you like metal guitar.
Sounds kind of cool. Have you ever heard Mattias 'IA' Eklundh (I hope I spelled that right). He's signed to Steve Vai's Favored Nations label. He also did an album with Johnas Hellborg called "Art Metal" It is essentially combining Math Metal with Indian Rythms. Off the freakin' chain. Peace Out, Rev J
i am impressed by the knowledge of many of you... being way old i dont keep as current as y'all but Lowell George of littlefeat should have gotten more ''rating''
"Time Loves a Hero," I love the story of how Little Feat got their name. Lowell George used to wear about a size 7 shoe. Whil he was playing with Frank Zappa he would room with Jimmy Carl Black (RIP) on the road. Jimmy Carl Black looked at Lowells boots and told him if he ever started a band he should call it Little Feet. Another Bad Motherfucker is a cat named Johnny "Blindboy" Hilland. He's about 34 years old born and raised in Maine. He plays that Danny Gatton/Chet Atkins style Country/Jazz thing with a little Joe Satriani/Steve Vai/Eddie Van Halen thing thrown in to keep him current. Peace Out, Rev J
Thanks, I've probably read about 5 books on Zappa and occasionally sport the Mustache Soul Patch combo. Peace Out, Rev J
Wayne Kramer and Sonic Smith, Both of the MC5. Honorable mention to Geoff O'Keefe, from Pentagram and Bedemon.
It's funny my dad has a friend who used to sling herb to Wayne Kramer. It's also funny bringing up death Metal since I mentioned Larry lalonde inmy original post and he was the guitarist for Possesed. Peace Out, Rev J
Perhaps not too well known all that widely, but both John Scofield and John McLaughlin are both very well respected in their field and I'd struggle to call either underrated.
i've heard mclaughlin loosely referenced twice (that i know of), and (outside of magazines and radio that pertain to the jam scene) have never heard anyone say a word about scofield. granted, they are 'well respected'... but i took the question to mean underrated by normal people, not jazz aficionados.
buckethead I'll add a link also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KYup9KtTJk"]YouTube- Buckethead - Welcome to Bucketheadland - Wetlands NY 4/30/97
I have an autographed copy of the Col. Claypools Bucket of Bernie Brains cd. It's kind of like Praxis with Les Claypool playing bass instead of Bootsy. I also love the Octave of the Holy Innocents album he did with Johnas Hellborg and Michael Shrieve. Acoustic Buck. Plus I have musician friends who have seen him without the bucket and mask raiding their fridge. Be afraid be very afraid. Peace Out, Rev J
