I like that you brought up Yoko Ono. She gets a really bad rap. I don't want to get into any sort of argument about her breaking up the Beatles (which she didn't)...but she just gets that bad deal of things all the time.
Without a doubt the most underappreciated musician is Prince. The man gets you up dancin'. He can play, sing, (I really hate bringing it up because that's what everyone focuses on but...) and only Prince could pull of the name-to symbol change and still stay relevant to music. Anyways, anyone who saw him play While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction knows what I'm talking about.

I was just gonna say Prince. This guy never gets the credit he deserves as a guitarist, and just as a musician in general. I think he plays something like 7 or 8 instruments, which is pretty impressive.

as soon as i saw the title of this thread, Jonesy popped into my mind!!
I'm sure there are plenty of great underrated musicians to be mentioned, but being a big zeppelin fan I also agree on what you guys have said about JPJ.
He never got the attention he deserved, perhaps he wanted it that way...anyway peace.
