Whether they are fixed or not the entire professional sports scene is an unspeakably hideous cancer upon the face of society. The sheer amount of resources and energy that is poured into this monolithic construct of male idealism makes me physically nauseous . . . we could literally cure every disease, feed every mouth, give every human mind a university educatino, find 5 new permanent energy solutions for our species, and colonize the solar system, but instead we want to watch grown men chase balls and care more deeply about which colored shirt to wear instead of how many children are dying in my country . . . You've heard of the military industrial complex, well this is much, much worse, because it is completely mainstream and integral to the identities of so many people. This is not shadowy groups vying for geopolitical control of resources and borders . . . this is global self-induced retardation and proudly worn blinders. To me, the existence of the current model of professional sports is one of the biggest indicators of the fundamental failure of mankind to evolve beyond what is at best, a kind of stunted adolescence.
Many Sports players and teams, at least in the US, do participate in fundraising events, charities and have programs to help with disadvantaged children. I'm not trying to paint Professional Sports leagues/players as models of altruistic behavior but I think that's pretty ignorant to suggest they don't pour any resources into beneficial causes. Sports pacify but in no way is it the only entertainment in which does so, most entertainment does that to some extent. In fact, I'm pretty sure without sports giving some people an outlet to unite over and give people lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, athletic prowess, etc. things would be much much worse.
"you couldnt sue them because they fixed games" ---douche mcdouchbag nowhere does either man say games ARE fixed....sorry, i mean nowhere that i watched did they say the games are fixed. i didnt watch the whole video because i get the idea. they are two men that sucked at sports and are now disgruntled and taking it out on sports the only way they can. bottom line is that they said nothing that you didnt say already.
how bout them spurs oh and the usa soccer team has 5 german-americans on the team, think theyre trying to get soccer to become big over in europe.
Fifa is not above this http://tracking.si.com/2014/05/31/world-cup-report-match-fixing-south-africa-brazil-soccer/
I think there have always been elements of fixing in sport. Many sports team owners don't have a passion for the sport. Its infinitely more about making money. So they consider it an "entertainment business" or a "brand". Which can result in a perversion of it for "ratings figures" etc. Likewise, infiltration by betting companies has had an effect. Finally, sport is also a vehicle to promote political agendas. For instance the mass globalisation of labour movements. Which can ally itself to anti-racism campaigns. Likewise in certain political correctness crusades. Put simply, sport can be a means to an end. Not always an end in itself. So by that definition, it ceases to be sport.
essentially this^, any time there is money involved, there is a motivation to cheat. and where there is strong enough motivation, it becomes statistically inevitable that opportunities to do so, will arise or be manufactured. so i see no reason to be shocked or surprised to find that it does in fact happen. "most" is another question however, and one have the neither means nor interest, to measure.
Sports and Gambling are synonymous ideas. The people who created sport intended to gamble on it and make money. AKA the mafia that runs these professional sports teams. When will people wake up and realize gambling runs professional sports at EVERY level. From the team owners to the referees to the sports players to the sports fans. Everyone with a brain intends to gamble on the game they will view or are viewing. The world is run by money and greedy people and many mafias, so gambling is a big part of every money making organization. The professional sports leagues are money making organizations and from the top down, are shady and suspect. And most of the time are never investigated by independent investigators. These leagues investigate themselves, how fraudulent is that scenario. Wake up people! Sports are modern day, "bread and circus" for the unwashed masses to distract them from the real world. Sports is fantasy and entertainment and a gambling institution for the mafia(s)
Whinging about fixing sports but y'all Americans know you'd like the Germany/USA game fixed tomorrow so y'all make it. Eh, eh, eh???
No one cared about the World Cup when we hosted it in the 90's. The spot has gotten popular since then.
And I've seen a documentary about this and it's also true with Australia too. Parents prefer their children to play soccer in hopes that the chances of serious injury don't occur. American Football and a Rugby League/Union are just "too dangerous for my little Benjamin".
