I always thought Aerosmith was overrated, but that's just what I think, this is a very opinion based thread.

Nirvana, specially Kurt himself. Alright so they were a decent band, but they wernt as amazing as people make them out to be. To be honist I don't think Nirvana would of been even half as popular of Kurt hadn't died

I really do have to say though, with today's media Green Day, Destiny's Child, Britney Spears, Blink 182, Good Charlotte and other bands similar to those really seem overrated to me. In my opinion they only make music that the corporate media wants them to.

many of the early black jazz bands were starting to show signs of rock and roll before elvis...but elvis would be the first to admit that, he was a good man

You dont really feel the impact of a band untill many years after. What do you think everyone will think of The Strokes 10 years from now.

He did a lot more than just make songs, and they are not crappy.

He could talk to people and move them, stir thoughts that nobody had been able to before him.

You are only 13 you are not mature enough to understand his greatness.

I'll agree with all of those, but only to a certain extent with Greenday. Ok so their signed to one of the Majors, but their contract includes a lot of creative license. If they only made the music they were told to, American Idiot (the album, not the single) would of never been released cause its so much of a concept album compared to everything else they've done

Nirvana is very over-rated. He wasnt that great of a guitarist or singer. I mean dont get me wrong I love Nirvana, but they wasnt all that great as people put them out to be.

And all this new Emo-post punk bullshit that has infected almost everyone under the age of 16, and a few older teens. It sucks.

Indeed. Green Day I can respect to a point, I don't like their music, but I can understand what they're doing. All I can hope is that their songs aren't written just because of the time we are in with George W. Bush and the war only to gain fans. I cannot make that judgement for sure though, I've never met any of these people and have no right to judge them 100%.

And on another note, what about under-rated artists? I think there are many more of those then overrated ones. Just trying to spark even more conversation hehe ;) .

    I'd say Dave Matthews band.

John Lennon was a musical genius. There aren't many musicians nowadays that put the passion into music like John did.
