Yes, I think that should be higher on the global priority list too.

Literally every single issue under the sun becomes less prevalent, less potent and more manageable as population decreases. Think of some issues, then ponder that.

Capitalism... you've just got to be kidding me. That's a prime example of not getting to the root of a problem (or in this case, innumerable ones). Ironically that's what a capitalist society is best at. It's rampant, blind, most often unnecessary greed-based growth. Giving all the world capitalism would end the world in a number of decades. If you don't think so simply take a look at how dependent the US is on imports and how little viable land (and people who actually know how to use it) it now has.

 

^yeah I pretty much agree. Overpopulation wouldn't be as bad if we did it with responsibility, with an awareness of how our presence effects the earth. But since that's unlikely, overpopulation is the biggest problem. We can either try to curb it ourselves, or the earth will decrease our numbers via its own means.

Raw capitalism is such a dead end! Once you have money, it's easier to make more money, and those who have the most money, make even more, and control everyone else. it's like social darwinism, except instead of an ultimate stabilization like in nature. humans don't follow instinct, and can destroy themselves.

what's needed for a 'free' society is not either democracy or communism, it's a even blend of both. capitalism allows a rational mind to become more animal, and others are oppressed. But a bit of socialism employs respect for each other and a collective attitude.

Also, human rights should not trump global warming, because a breach of human rights only effect humans, global warming effects every living thing on the earth and the earth itself

 

Loss of civil liberties and the continued trampling of our constitution by GW and cronies.

Climate Change

 

The more overpopulated this earth becomes, the dumber the people get, and the more ignorant to the things that go on around us. No one cares if we're all going to die if we don't do something to save the earth, as long as they make money.

 

civility, conservatives aren't evil and liberals aren't stupid. if we could start here we may be able to work together to solve problems. believe it or not we can disagree without insulting each other.

 

I think there are a lot of troubles on this earth and its hard to pick one over the other.

Human Right and Global Warming!

I chose Global Warming cause that more directly affects everyone.

 

Folks need to do some current research of "Inconvenient Truth". Sounds like people saw that and stopped looking any further. There actually may very well be NO SUCH THING as "Global warming", as caused by humans. I'd suggest researching further if you are stuck in the "Inconvenient Truth". "Climate Change" is NATURAL. Which means global warming and cooling is natural. It seems to be being used as a scare tactic, to make people PURCHASE MORE STUFF, and allow more regulations. PLEASE check into this before preaching inconvenient "truths".

 

Hello I'm the newby here and I would like to say that very soon the economy will be the most important issue.
Global warming is another and of course the wars all over da planet.

 

For a country economy always is one of the important issues unfortunately.

Indeed! I don't know for sure what it was ment to make people do though, but it most likely is nothing more than a scare tactic. Perhaps even with the purpose to make people more conscious but even then the issue isn't global warming!

 

It's a hard choice between Darfur and Palestine-Israel. But I think the Palestine-Israel Conflict should really be remembered. This is by far the reason for the majority of uprest in the middle east. By solving this problem we could have an easier chance of solving other problems (like Iraq). I'm not saying Palestine-Israel is wholly responsible, but it does have some weight in the issue.

 

Capitalism - once people are finally allowed to freely trade and make contracts with one another without big brother looking up their trousers and making my relationships their business then maybe some decent living standards, human rights, and world peace can be finally appreciated.
