What do you think, specifically about mormon missionaries and their approach to churching you up! (I've never really encountered such folks where I live, so I'm curious).

    What say you?

I feel like it's weird especially if you have an established religion. I will say this though, they aren't always like that. I went out with a Mormon girl in high school and she didn't try to convert me. It was really normal; just like any other relationship.

I knew lots of Mormons when I lived in Idaho. They were nice but somehow kind of creepy at the same time, like The Brady Bunch. I wasn't a poor, illiterate peasant living in South America though. Mormons could secretly be assholes for all I know.

I grew up down the street from a mormon family. They had about a billion kids but they were all very nice.

..... Sorry. I misread the title of the thread.

Thought this was about another large, loose knit, aggravating, group of people.

I have had some great friends who are Mormons. They have always seemed very kind and generous to me.

I know that the actual church has a few unusual ideas. Some are pretty strange, and rather humorous. Nevertheless...those Mormons whom I've met, have been very nice to me, and never preached at me, or made any attempt to judge me, or convert me. I'm sure there are *some* of them who are jerks...as with any group of people.

I choose not to judge people based on their religion...or their race, creed, color, gender, eye color...etc.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a Mormon Missionary.

Jehovah Witnessess are the ones I've found really pushy. The only other people I've seen try to church in public, aside from doomsday/conspiracy/repentant crazy individuals, are some denomination of Christians that set up stands with pamphlets. I've seen them outside a couple different libraries, but they generally leave you alone or just make obligatory greetings.

These people used to stand near the bars on Saturday night and accost us. I remember one girl in particular; young, nervous acting, scared to make eye contact. Her male 'keeper' stood about half a block away, keeping an eye on her and us. We convinced her to sit on a bench with us and she told us a little about herself...abused at home, a runaway and some other horrible stuff. She didn't convert me but I felt so sorry for her.

Life without coffee and porn would be unthinkable for me. In an episode of South Park a new Mormon kid arrives at school. He unsuccessfully tries to befriend the main characters. In the end he concludes even if the Book of Mormon was not true, if it made him a better person then that was a good thing.
To this I would say Amen.

I've met only one openly Mormon at the airport in Brazil heading back home. I found her to be attractive and sweet. Very devoted to her religion. Not once did she try to "church me up" or impose anything on me. It was interesting. She initiated a conversation with me before getting on the plane and next thing you know my assigned seat happened to be right next to her. :)

She was the only one that mentioned she was Mormon. I may have came across others who never mentioned it. But i can see why "openly Mormon" would be amusing. :D

I don't like any missionaries. If you really must have a religion, keep it to yourself. But the two year 'mission', that Mormons do, did keep Mitt Romney out of the draft during Viet Nam. So, for him at least, it was valuable because, like Clinton, Bush the second, and now Trump, he was afraid of serving and decided to let some other, less affluent, person serve in their place.

When any religious person (s) come to my door I simply say, "I'm a devout Athiest and probably live a more Christian life than you."

And, darn it, now it looks like we'll have a choice between two draft dodgers in the US in November. Bernie and Trump. I'm probably not the only veteran who won't be voting.
