Yesterday I got caught out in a monster thunder storm. I was driving into town and it just came crashing down. It was like someone was throwing buckets of water on the windshield and the wipers could barely keep up. Police were blocking an intersection and I had to take a detour. A normal 2 minute drive took about ten minutes. My detour was not busy with cars but I had to drive around some branches and garbage cans that were in the streets. When we got home we sat in the car for about 5 minutes waiting for the intensity of the rain to stop. Finally decided we would be safer inside the apartment so took a chance to just go for it. Grace (dog) and I had to walk about 60 feet and got drenched. Just then a really close lightening strike and immediate thunder. We got inside safe but Grace is traumatized. She may never be calm through a thunderstorm again. Poor baby.

("...well I'm just you're average everyday type of goblin I suppose, married with kids now, just the usual stuff then..." mentioned the goblin looking across at the clear blue sky over the white mountains of the french alps, the same sky that had invited those climbers who been killed upon the face of the mount maudit rightly called the cursed peak here, saying "...but longevity was never the point of this life now was it humans, so why climb then, certainly not because it's there, that's silly, after all its always there even after one that is, ah no, one climbs because one is there upon its surface once more, and that within this moment one challenges oneself daring death to its summit, and then, even if one survives that dare then, one slowly kills one's body in doing so but still one climbs on and up, for we all live in the shadow of death only that climbers experience that shadow each time...")

There was a huge fire at a local mill building.

A good friend of the family rents space there. He had lots of antique tools and stuff in there...I hope he was able to recover some of them.

I work near it though, so will be bloody annoyed if it seriously messes with me getting home.

Going to get iced coffee now, wishing it was a scotch though
