As a precursor, I think it's important to reject violence. In general violence is not only abusive it's wrong and damaging. I think that it's terrifying to think that this sort of thing could happen to somebody who is minding their own business and trying to go out. I don't think anybody should be attacked.

But that doesn't affect my position on people of color. I think that they are disadvantaged marginalized people who deserve to be treated fairly.

I think we live different lives.

It's ok to see things that happened to people of color as completely different than things that happen to non people of color. It's not the same thing.

I think that it's a very different life we lead as people of color than that of people of non color.

Because the weight of history, the very system of law for crying out loud is behind the people of non color, they have a distinct advantage in life. They go to work they go to the store and they aren't given a second thought. This is not so for many people of color. What they experience is something alienating. A feeling of being apart from the whole - and not in a good way. For that reason, I think that it causes a rift in trust of society that is much more difficult to repair when they become the victims of attacks perpetrated by people of non color.

But to the topic, I think this thread is horrifying on its own without 6 adding the less Politically Correct adage that this is "racism" against "white people".

It begs the question though that when a white person is attacked by a group of thugs in the city is it a hate crime? I will ask the police and get back to this.
