Just made this ... ever so quick, ever so nutritious, and YUMMY!! Not to mention cheap! I've just fired up the stock pot now we're getting into autumn, and the first batch of chicken stock is ready to use, so here's what I did: 1. Take one can of pease pudding, and break it up in a saucepan. Add a small amount of stock, and simmer gently until all the pease pudding is dissolved (you can speed this process by passing the lumps through a sieve a couple of times). 2. Add as much stock as is required to get to your desired consistency 3. Add one packet of shredded ham hock (from the pre-cooked meats aisle of your preferred supermarket) 4. Simmer gently to allow the flavours to infuse ... the longer the better, but if you've only got 10 minutes then this should be fine. 5. Season to taste And there you have it ... mock pea & ham soup ... simplicity itself, dirt cheap, and absolutely delicious!! :mickey:
