George Floyd served time for all those offenses, and yet his past is still being used to justify his death to some. The policeman that killed him, was allowed to continued to serve in uniform even after numerous complaints were made against him for years. He should have been fired sometime before this even happened.

 

perhaps he should have been. I Don’t know the details of those complaints. I agree george Floyd’s death was murder.

18 years he worked on the force, 1 complaint by citizens a year is common Per cop, often more.... Often complaints are filed for traffic stops even. Speeding, running reds... etc... so I don’t know what complaints were filed. The person is pissed, files a complaint... Doesn’t mean he is bad or good in those complaints. Details matter.

but if you can look at ones past in order to judge the individual, you can also look at George Floyd’s past.

I am not justifying this death based on the past in anyway, it is awful.. criminal, sick...Murder.

The people who "judge" accused criminals in our society are supposed to be judges and jurors, and we don't execute people just because they have a criminal record. The police are trained professionals, not vigilantes.

While I never personally heard the words, “we don’t serve your kind here”, my parents certainly did while traveling in the south back in the 1960s.

David Dorn was apparently killed by looters, not officers of the State. His killing was, of course, a crime, but the fact he was a victim of a mob puts it in a different category.
